New Everton Stadium - Hill Dickinson Stadium

In all honesty being sentimental is understandable but we have not been great at home in the past few years.. Without checking if these that over the last 3\4 seasons we have more away points than home.
We have a manager who traditionally made us strong at home.

The past 3/4 years we’ve had chancers manage us. Unsurprised the home record has dipped.

Absolutely.

It will be interesting to see if our incredible fans have the same enthusiasm in a ground without character, mid December in the howling wind, in sub zero temperatures.
The home record gas been pathetic, felt worse going to home games under dyche at goodison watchig us not wanting to attack ect was horrible. Is always going to be a hard change but hopefully with a positive transfer window even he tting an early win at bmd. Will take the pressure off and fans can enjoy going the game even if weather is crap wind cold ect. I kno for me seeing the team pushing on to win games it will help push the crowd forward

If they did a transportation survey for how fans would get to Goodison back in the day no one would ever have built it at all. Both Anfield and Goodison are an absolute nightmare to get to by any transportation route. Lo and behold though fans have found a way over time, which they will with Bromley Moore as well. There is no efficient way of getting 50k people in and out of a stadium quickly, doesn’t exist in any stadium I’ve ever been to for any event. If you can park anywhere near it, you sit in traffic for ages getting away. If there’s a tube station or train station it’s absolutely crammed. Quite simply infrastructure isn’t often built to accommodate 50k volume that only occurs once a fortnight.
That's a good shout.

When Goodison was built places like Walton and Breckfield/Anfield were remote to all but those who lived in the district. The transport systems were primitive with horse-drawn trams struggling up the heights of Everton. They only attracted 20,000-25,000 per game until electrification was sorted out and people from across the city could access them.

There's a lesson there to be learned...

As mentioned - we have been heavily reliant on Goodison Park, probably my entire life if I am being honest.

Playing towards the Gwladys Street, the narrow tunnel, the fans on top of the pitch. All of the above plus loads more has won us points and done things a “normal” stadium hasn’t before.

A shiny new ground with zero character won’t benefit the team, in my opinion. I suspect many more will be saying the same come October/November.
Just remember we only won 5 games at Goodison last season, 6 away from home.

The people are the most important part of any stadium, they generate the atmosphere, and the vast majority of people are moving to the new stadium. Hopefully the 1878 will keep the stuff with the flags going

Really strange reaction to my comments, almost as if some have taken it personally.

I understand Everton needed a new ground. Commercially, the long term benefits should be good. It’s a beautiful ground in a great “location” (picturesque, on the waterfront).

However I have concerns about how the side will adapt to a new ground without the safety blanket of GP. I think the match day experience won’t be the same either. Our entire lives we have been going to Goodison Park. There’s a familiarity that made Goodison so special.

Now - we will all find our own matchday routines. Our new chippies, pubs, routes etc.

The reality is:

: Transportation looks disasterous and off the back of the test events, dangerous. No parking and poor public transport routes.

: The gridlock to exit will be hugely problematic due to the lack of space by the waterfront

: It’s going to be more expensive for the match going fans.

: It will be especially unpleasant in the winter.

: Can we recreate the Goodison Park atmosphere? Remains to be seen.
All valid concerns but comes across as a bit glass half empty, a lot of us are positive about the new stadium and also realise that day 1 issues can be improved on and will be constantly refined

One thing that isn't talked about too much is how many will stay for a drink after, there will be 5k corporate and if say 1 in 4 stay that would be another 10k, that will help with the egress - however I could be completely wrong plus your own concerns are really a total unknown at this stage, Roma will give us a bit more of an indication

Let's just be open minded and positive about the increase in revenue helping get out club back where we belong

I do not trust the club to reasonably price the drinks to encourage people to stay after the game
