I asked one of them if he was really that bad and he said he was a "Hapless clown" at them and he hopes for our sake he's improved😂
Fair enough. But I always take things like this with a pinch of salt. Especially with backroom appointments. Different people, different circumstances etc. Sometimes a person can have a nightmare with one company, change to another and it all goes incredibly well. We shall wait and see

Hammond spent more than two years with the Baggies between 2016 and 2018, before being sacked with the club on the brink of relegation from the Premier League.

Previously director of football at Reading, Hammond took most of the flak for the disastrous appointment of Alan Pardew in November, 2017, following Tony Pulis’ departure as head coach.”
“It was also on Hammond’s watch that Albion splashed out more than £40million on a spending splurge in the summer before their 2018 relegation.”

Hammond does not lead player identification with us. In due course that will be Smith & his team working with the manager. Until he joins I suspect it is mainly Moyes helped by the analytics team, scouts and his wider network.

Hammond will probably be another input on recruitment but his role is really to negotiate fees and personal terms and player contract renewals. He and Kinnear holding a hard line in the latter reportedly explains why we still don’t have a definitive word on the final four out of contract guys.

He did this negotiation role previously at Newcastle and Leeds as well. He’s said to be good at this aspect and got generally positive feedback from Leeds fans but it is hard for fans to judge. He was more of a mixed bag at the wider DoF/TD roles he previously held, excelling at Reading but struggling at WBA then Celtic.

We shall see how he goes.

I'll always air on the side of positivity.

Hopefully he comes through.

Bought that Oliver Burke which was a disaster, worse player we ever had, think he bought Rondon in too

The group has been designed so it has the appropriate checks and balances I would have thought so no one goes ‘rogue’ or is allowed to be incompetent but then again….is this the familiar Everton or the new and improved version? We shall see
