Steamed this last night on recommendation:

Danger Close : The Battle For Long Tan.

Based on a true story, three platoons of mainly young inexperienced Aussie and Kiwi soldiers, fight for survival against a regiment of Viet Cong, some twenty times their strength.

An all star Aussie cast, led by the always excellent Travis Fimmel, put in a real shift.

Raw and visceral, one I wished I’d seen on the cinema, as the battle scenes are immense.

I swore I wouldn’t go and see this as it was sacrilege, but having seen the trailer I’m slowly coming around to it.

Thought Liam Neeson was hilarious in the improvisional comedy piece in Ricky Gervaise's lifes too short.

Went to see 28 Years Later a bit earlier. Found it a bit all over the place to be honest. Like the way it’s shot in the same sort of style as the original and the setting is great. Cast are pretty good but can be a bit caricaturish. Largely enjoyed it though and wasn’t ever bored but also really wasn’t a fan of some of the stuff they did.

knew 'Taken' would get sent up. Seems it's been made on the back of Macfarlane, so it's likely going to be very low brow. The originals got by on Nielsen's timing and charm.

Nielsen's timing and charm certainly but to say Naked Gun and Police Squad as a whole didn't lean into 'low brow' is more than a bit wide of the mark.

Leslie Nielsen was an absolute revelation with Police Squad given his roles up to that point were mainly serious. Having seen this new one it just looks a complete misfire. Just doesn’t look funny to me at all.

Meh to be fair. 3 amazing stunt scenes but that's it.

Plot is thin, acting is limited and payoff is not worth it
