2024/25 Idrissa Gueye

You've got Nick Hammond deal with contract negotiations according to Paddy Boyland, which is a worry for me because unless you're an Evertonian that has watched Gueye week in week out am not sure he realises how important Gueye is to this team.
He had a hit and miss record at Leeds as far as I can tell. And Kinnear was hardly revered.

If Gueye leaves on their watch that's a disastrous start to their time here.

I dont think it's a big risk.

The likelihood of him falling off a cliff in the next 6 months seems low to me. So if you can get a year our of him (and this is worst case) then you only have a year of carrying his wages if he drops off.

We dont have a huge budget, giving Gana a 2-year, means you've got a further 12 months to delay having to find an immediate replacement.

We won't he lumbered with him for years if he drops off, and we dont even know if he will drop off yet.

He's still very much gonna have the chance to adapt his game and become the sitting player. Pretty sure he's got the tools to be able to do that. He could easily have another 3/4 years in him if he adapts.

I agree 2 years is a big risk.

You know for a fact that if he’s not performing in the 2nd year he will get torn a new one on here and by the hard of thinking in our fanbase.

Just like they turned on Cahill and Weir at the end of their careers.

Cahill's legs had gone and wasn't playing regularly.

And Moyes told Weir he wasnt going to play regularly.

Gana is still topping out stats compared to players 10 years younger than him.

Ideally he has a lot longer in his legs, to be honest.

One of my favourite Everton players in recent times. They job he does is excellent. If we get a good year out of him, then I'll be ecstatic, if he can adapt hos game and we get more then everyone is a winner.

Gareth Barry did it successfully, no reason IGG can't.

He was their Transfer consultant, I’m pretty sure it wasn’t solely on him. Some of our fans are dead happy Moyes is in control of transfers. Go and look and the 300mil he wasted at West Ham.

The game has changed massively since Moyes was here last and picking up £5M bargains.

Can’t believe we haven’t confirmed Gana for an extra year or two.

Doesn’t bode well for the transfer window as a whole - the squad that tours America will be laughably light.
