Holidays 2025

Does anyone purposely holiday at other times of the year avoiding the summer madness? I'm thinking of holding out and going somewhere later this year when it's less busy
My wife and I have been going away in June for a few years, since the kids were too old to come with us and she’s not keen on the heat later in the summer. We’re in Benalmádena now and I’ve suggested coming back to Nerja in October , we went to Puerto Pollensa last October which was good.

Island hopping for 3 weeks Sept/ Oct. Staring in Rhodes, then going to Symi, Kalymnos, Leros and flying home from Kos. We always go away late these days. We also try to have a winter city break. We went to both Belfast and Dublin in January- Dublin was my birthday present to Mr F - we went to the Leopardstown racing festival bit also visited Wexford and Kilkenny while we were there.
Im also hoping to squeeze in a visit to the Scottish Highlands at some point this year.

We went to Naples for a few days 2yrs ago.
There’s some really nice buildings, museums and stuff in the city centre, but it is one of the dodgiest places I’ve ever been.
I thought Pompei was mind blowing.
San Gennaro catacombs was also great
Would definitely like to visit pompei and Herculaneum. yeah, heard it can be a bit rough away from the tourist areas though.

Got back last Friday from a few days in Rome, walked 21 miles in 2 days, not great for someone who is 60 and had knee and back surgery. Off to Salou in September for my wife's 60th, she wanted to go there as never been there before. Went to Fuerteventura in March for a week, lovely in the day but a tad chilly in the evening.

I'm off to Peschiera del Garda (Lake Garda) on Friday with the family. I've got my GOT app loaded on my phone along with train and bus apps to help us get around when we're not lazing by the pool. Never been to Italy so I'm looking forward to enjoying some sublime food. Fingers Crossed anyway.

Where is everyone else going that is going?
Italy is a lovely country. Cycled round the lakes cple years ago, Garda, Iseo and Lake Como, absolutely stunning, the views and scenery were something else. Enjoy
