Out here, that's a house. They're all like that. Still many folks are pretty self sufficient.

I did that a few years ago. If you are in the area it is worth visiting La Cambe which is the German cemetery in Normandy. Not far from the US cemetery at Omaha beach. Found it interesting

Im currently on the Isle of Wight with the missus' family which is a lot more of a delight than I thought it would be (the island that is). Some cracking pubs and eateries, even in tiny Bembridge. This is a view over Ventnor yesterday.

Off to Normandy early Sept (during international break). Staying in Bayeux, and aiming to do a lot of the D-day stuff. One of those places always wanted to visit.

Looking at Naples early next year, but nothing booked yet.

We went to Naples for a few days 2yrs ago.
There’s some really nice buildings, museums and stuff in the city centre, but it is one of the dodgiest places I’ve ever been.
I thought Pompei was mind blowing.
San Gennaro catacombs was also great

Does anyone purposely holiday at other times of the year avoiding the summer madness? I'm thinking of holding out and going somewhere later this year when it's less busy

Used to before kids. Got 6 weeks to fill now though so tend to go for the expensive and hot package option.
