Holidays 2025

That’s a very poignant ceremony at the Menin gate.
A monument to nearly 60k Commonwealth soldiers who have no known grave and lie in the Flanders soil undiscovered…it only records up to 1917 as no more space for names to be inscribed in the stone. The other 35,000 soldiers who are missing are remembered at Tyne Cot cemetery which is also worth visiting.
Yes very much. Tyne cot is good yes

Off to Normandy early Sept (during international break). Staying in Bayeux, and aiming to do a lot of the D-day stuff. One of those places always wanted to visit.

Looking at Naples early next year, but nothing booked yet.
I did that a few years ago. If you are in the area it is worth visiting La Cambe which is the German cemetery in Normandy. Not far from the US cemetery at Omaha beach. Found it interesting

Kin 'ell mate, you may as well ask for geo-cordinates so you can orchestrate a drone strike.

Anyway, here's a snap I took arsing about yesterday evening whilst the missus, her Mom and Gran were doing work on the vegetable patch.
That's no old house, it's a small holding (small farm) just from that patch alone. Monty Don or even HRH of Jersey @Joey66 could have that producing year round.

That's one more phrase to add to my limited list of Romanian phrases, the one other being "ce mai faci?" 😬
"Nu vorbesc limba Romana. Vorbesc ingleza?" is the single most important phrase. Unless you're proper out in the sticks there's a good chance the person speaks English.

If not, hope you've got mobile signal, fire up Google translate, hope it's semi-accurate, and make new friends with terrible pronunciation that'd make the 'French' Policeman from Allo Allo laugh.
