Also lengthens the season - with 14 teams, each will play 26 matches rather than the current 22 - this brings better income to the clubs in terms of sponsorship deals, ticket sales, etc - and better salaries to the players as there should be a general increase in wage bills to reflect the additional matches along with a (hopeful) overall increase due to increased demand for quality players for more teams.
Think Wages will stay same bar any typical new contract etc. While games will be in the same time span i would think. Just means a few will be played midweek, instead of the rare one. There's always massive gaps with not many games after xmas till april. Season maybe slightly extend for the promotion/relegation play off for those that need it

It will be interesting to see - avg wages for a player across the league were reported to be 47k (pounds)/season - I think this was in 2023 - for 22 matches, that would make a per match average of 2,136/match - the same season wage across 26 matches would be 1,807/match, a per match decrease of 15%. I am sure that the players' association will make sure to look at this, along with increased investment in the teams, to be sure that additional revenues find their way to the players, not just owners.

(disclosure: For the 47k figure, I am not sure how much of that comes directly from the clubs vs endorsements, etc, so the per game amounts could well be off.)

Ive got no idea of the exact wages any of the players are on. Knew a few in the past were on massive wages due to sarvar buying them himself as he wanted them more than the boss. That then caused us problems when he was gone and we tried to get rid of players who didnt want to leave due to not getting the same wage anywhere else. I did know someone that use to actually do the womens wages in the past, but never ever asked about who was on what

good point - my note was about averages across the league, all players - to get it to a specific club situation will be interesting. Does the PFA or any such group provide details as to player contract terms?

Well played, @Ring master

it is a bit disappointing to see her go - I thought this last season, when she was able to play more in a mid-field role as opposed to central defense, that she was much more effective - stronger for link-up play, etc.

But, then I'm not the manager....
I thought she would get another year myself. Thought when new players came in Jan, and she started off not playing full games as before, that she may want to go. Then she got her place back and that made me think she would stay. Sara went a while ago (Unofficially) but if it was to Madrid like everyone thought, they only named new boss yesterday. Lucy is the "Other player" i said who may go. That was up in the air if she was or not
