Fixtures

Tough first game, but they are all tough to a degree.

We have shown real promise in away games under Moyes.

First home game is a huge occasion no matter what the opposition and it's definitely a winnable game for us.

Really looking forward to it now.
My initial reaction was it was a bad opening game for us but there’s also the opportunity to take advantage of one of the very few games they’ll play with Farke in charge.

I remember seeing a statistic reported a few seasons back that we were unbeaten in our first two games of the season for around twenty-odd seasons on the bounce (I think) but since then we have lost that streak. Hopefully we can stay unbeaten in the first few games and as many as possible after that.
11 season run from 2012/13 I think until Chelsea beat us 1st game of 2022/23. (Beaten by QPR first game of 2011/12).

so let me get this right

Liverpool get to start the season with a home game
Liverpool get to end the season with a home game
Liverpool get a home game for boxing day
Liverpool get a home game for last game of the year / new years eve

all 4 of these games are extremely winnable fixtures as well against Bournemouth, Brentford, Wolves and Leeds

meanwhile little ol everton get to look forward to christmas day with a home game against bloody Arsenal

Mate they’ve been away for 2 years.
Yes? They got relegated 2 years ago with a massive chip on their shoulder because they think we robbed them of a place in the PL. If you don't think they'll be massively up for it playing under the lights first game back up against us then fine, I do but it's not really a big deal either way is it? As I've already said about 10000 times, i'm not saying it's an unwinnable game or the worst possible start, just that I think it will be quite tough.

You wouldn't think it was hugely controversial to say any game was going to be a tough for a side which hasn't finished any higher than 10th for the last 6 years and has averaged less than 4 away wins per season since fans were let back into stadiums, but apparently it is. Who knew.

Man City, away, Monday Night Football for the first game of the season.

Well I correctly predicted that we would get the MNF and be away, just got the opponent wrong! I am playing the lottery this week! :) .

Last time we played the Monday Night of the first weekend of the season we beat Man Utd 1-0, Fellini with the goal

Can’t believe they’ve made our fixtures harder than everyone else ffs

Then they’re absolute weirdos because they finished below Leicester too.

Everyone always wants the so called rubbish club 1st, or the newly promotd team. then moan when the other lot get them. We finally get them and we are acting like they are the new Barcelona, surprised if they have not already, that some are not saying Gnonto will score the winner v us
Exactly, the team are pants.

The only thing that could foil us is the atmosphere spurring htem on, but Moyes has been pretty good at that since his return, Newcastle away for example.

This is simply the way of this fanbase. There is no fixture that you can’t twist into a possible defeat. It does also seem to be the same people that were gaslit by Dyche into believing that the only games we had any chance of winning last season were the promoted teams and West Ham at home.
