New Everton Stadium - Hill Dickinson Stadium

Maybe, I guess time will tell.

The original point though was memberships are meaningless money spinners and don’t offer anything to fans.
I disagree, I’m not in Liverpool anymore and I haven’t been to a game for 2-3 season, but i feel better paying to be a member of the club. It gives me a connection beyond simply saying I’m an Everton fan. It’s about connection, pride, and the sense of home that comes from standing behind a Club I truly believe in.
I can say I contribute in a meaningful way (money) to Everton’s attempts to improve their performance.
Well, you’re certainly interpreting what paid-for membership offers in the way the club’s commercial team would like - but I’m afraid it’s transparent cynicism from my point of view.

Don’t get me wrong, I understand the club’s perspective, and I understand that squeezing as much cash from the fanbase as it can bear is a prerequisite for Premier League clubs to compete these days.

I’m pleased the kids are getting a bit of tat through the post, though I note that adults get absolutely zip these days. I’ve had water bottles, Bluetooth speakers and all sorts of other bits and pieces that at least made it feel like I got something for my money in the past.

So ultimately, it irritates me that I’m paying £200 for the family. I don’t feel pride, I feel mild annoyance.

That`s what they`ll say is behind the system, but we all know that it`s to stop folks selling their tickets on themselves and not using the clubs system. There`s pro`s and con`s to this. It stops lids selling their United and RS tickets for a few hundred quid, which was making headlines a few years ago, but on the downside it stops folks doing a mate a favor by letting them use their ticket now and again.
Just download your season ticket onto a burner phone and pass it around.

They offer the opportunity for those fans to still support the club in a meaningful way.

Everton fans have spent the last several decades bemoaning the commercial inequality with our peers while also bemoaning the clubs perceived commercial naivety.

Now they’re doing something to increase revenue and that’s treated dismissively.

Memberships are voluntary- no one is obligated to purchase them.

Personally I take great pleasure in reminding my sly 6 ‘supporting’ mates down here that they haven’t spend a brass razzoo on the clubs they so fervently declare their love for.
I think what they're doing with memberships is scandalous to be honest. All the tickets I got last season we passed to me my friends or family, most Everton fans aren't touts. I had a membership 10 years ago, where it guaranteed you a ticket and you could choose where you sat. Now fans are having to pay large amounts of money, to simply be in with a chance of buying a ticket. That's fine with RS orcs, who are mainly tourists who only want to go there once, however fans who have a purchase history for years, shouldn't have money sponges from them. Also we were formed as a club for charitable purposes, RS weren't, I hold us to a higher standard. Add to that stupid nonsense with having to have your season ticket on your phone, so you can't just pass it on. I'm thinking in long term, RS can get away with that kind of thing, because they've won a lot in recent years, we haven't. I think Everton need to think long and hard about decisions that will affect older fans and younger fans.

Welcome to modern football. Lots of money and shiny trophies, or fan loyalty and local identity. Pick one, you can’t have both.

You do realise what you are doing with those tickets is probably the main reason the club do these schemes and are generally tightening up the ticketing operation though, right?

Look at it this way - why do you get to decide which of your friends or family get priority over someone else who wants a ticket for themselves but can’t get one, because your single fan ID / membership is being used to hoover up tickets, generate a false loyalty profile and the associated priority ticketing, despite those tickets potentially going to 19 different individuals of your choosing?

Personally I’m NEA, but that is one of the reasons why the club do things like this.

Furthermore I’ll gladly be giving over the cost of 2 adult and 1 child membership regardless of whether I end up trying to get tickets or not, because I want to give the club my money and feel like I’m contributing.

Yes, having a season ticket then rarely using it yourself is hardly fair.

I don't have a membership, I've merely been given tickets from people that can't go, who haven't profiteered personally from it. Just like for years I had a season ticket, if me and your were mates and I couldn't go, I'd give it to your for free or another blue for free, before thinking of selling it. My point is resale platform was set up, because people complained about stub Hub being touts. Despite that fact for most games tickets were sold below face value. Tickets on phones were brought into to stop touting. My issue is that club are bringing in policies that do nothing to stop touting and punishing normal fans in process. Without sounding all Dave K and a socialist, I doubt club cares about, people in hospitality boxes, inviting rich people along and passing on tickets. Personally I think ticketing policy will backfire on Everton, but that's just my personal opinion.

Because its his ticket that he paid for.

What aren't you getting about that?

I've done it many times myself. I go the match with my Dad, brother and uncle. If i can't go, my cousin goes. Better that than having no control over who gets it.

I genuinely don't know why you think that's unfair. It's a ticket that is otherwise unavailable to the general public, as i would normally be there, having paid for the seat in advance for the season (29 seasons to be precise).

I don’t know of anyone who buys a season ticket for Everton and then sells on every game.

What I do know is that as a season ticket holder, I buy it and with weeks notice games can be moved. I also don’t always know what might come up in my personal life week by week.

I’ve give plenty of tickets to friends and family over the years when I’ve not been able to make it. This includes literally hours before a match due to family emergencies - something which I couldn’t do under the digital system as there is a cut off point.

If you look at any aerial views of the docks, they all appear to be blue (on a sunny day) compared to the river. This is because any sediment drops to the bottom, whereas it is forever moving in the river. Also if this section of the docks is fed mostly by local stream outlets and the canal system it will be fresher water, with less sediment.

Thanks Tom, I remember when they cut off the connection during the build and Nelson went a nasty green colour.

Don’t know if I’m being optimistic or naive, but you’d think the club would announce if there was a delay to the stadium being complete for the first game of the season, and not letting us all find out tomorrow when the fixtures are announced.

Nah this confirms it. They wouldn’t be doing this otherwise. We could get 3 away games that proves nothing.

I can imagine it's highly unlikely, but there's a risk we could fail or have to cancel the third test event for something we no have idea about.

See spurs for example.

But I've got a feeling they've got it all sorted. This is the new Everton who don't mess things up

Dont think they would allow a full house for a friendly before the season start if it wasnt ready. They might ask for away fixture first so the can iron out any issues after the Roma game.
