New Everton Stadium - Hill Dickinson Stadium

Memberships aren't voluntary if you want to occasionally go the game. If you want to go one game a season that first game costs well over £100.

The club are doing what other clubs do so you can't blame them but memberships aren't meaningful. It's a money making exercise.
It's social engineering.

We're in the foothills of a gradual but massive change in the class of match going Evertonians.

If a gestation period is needed to weed out chancers erecting tents, then I'm all for that.

In any case, a slow process in this case wont be affecting local fans. It's a hotel for out of towners.

From that image the thing looks terrible in any case Imo. Like a refugee centre. And in a terrible spot.
Enough out of towners using keeping the hotel rooms full will bring some job opportunities for local folks. Mind you if the council are taking so long to go and get the project up and running it`ll be a while before there is any benefit from it.

They need to sort out how to get everyone to that stadium before they do anything else. Otherwise it makes no sense for anything to be built there.

You won't get many families from the Walton area paying for one off games any more with membership requirements etc. it will be interesting to see if the club approach to pricing fans out will change in a few years when demand will possibly drop.

The digital membership is free and you can still buy tickets on that membership, just without priority access, where you getting well over £100 from?

It wont be as high as this again unless we start winning trophies or get European competition.

For that reason they need to go easy in terms of hikes to season ticket prices especially for 2026/27.

IMO the genie is out of the bottle though.

He's right. At least, there's a general perception he's right, which in terms of expenditure amongst fans means the same thing.

The chances of games getting down to general sale this season is perceived as being small. Demand to experience the new stadium in its first season is huge, and there aren't that many more match-by-match tickets available for purchase than there were at Goodison.

I'm not even sure availability will slip below Forever Blue + first priority for most games.

Membership of that is £60 per person. Then the match ticket on top of that takes it over £100.

Even if the tickets get to general sale which is unlikely it probably wouldn't allow 3-4 seats in a row for families.

I wouldn't be so sure about that to be honest. Families from Walton go on all inclusive holidays, have top end Sky packages, wear branded clothing etc. Rightly or wrongly, people tend to find the money for things they really want. I'm not saying that's how it should have to be obviously, I just don't think it follows that people will no longer be able to do it.

Yes. And you need memberships at the same tier for all family members.

I’ve put down £200 on memberships for the four of us.

£200 for the chance to buy tickets is mad, but that’s where we are.

Feel sorry for people who haven't got season tickets who have to go through all the hassle of trying to get a ticket for home games.

Yeah, it’s a pain because even after the £200 there’s the stress of knowing it guarantees nothing - and I need to be free to buy tickets as soon as they become available for whichever games we’re going to try and get to.

Though I’m by no means the most hard done by.

I feel most sorry for those families who can’t afford to drop £200 on basically nothing.

Everton should offer a cheaper membership level whereby you’re guaranteed to be able to buy tickets to a couple of random games per season, at least.

Maybe, I guess time will tell.

The original point though was memberships are meaningless money spinners and don’t offer anything to fans.
I disagree, I’m not in Liverpool anymore and I haven’t been to a game for 2-3 season, but i feel better paying to be a member of the club. It gives me a connection beyond simply saying I’m an Everton fan. It’s about connection, pride, and the sense of home that comes from standing behind a Club I truly believe in.
I can say I contribute in a meaningful way (money) to Everton’s attempts to improve their performance.
