The Club World Club

Blatter, at least, came with an element of ironic comedy. Infantino is full-on fash. He doesn't even hide it. Could you imagine Blatter playing comedy jester to Trump in the oval office? Nah, me neither. Blatter, at least, brought a World Cup to Africa. Infantino actually lives in the Gulf...

Could
You imagine Robbie Williams and Sepp Blatter doing a promo video for a world cup campaign?

Infantino loves being a celeb!

It’s a fifa land grab into club football. UEFA are making the big money with the champions league and fifa want a bite of the pie.
Every part of the game is now corrupt so suggesting not watching on some moral ground / political statement is a drop in the ocean. Big fish are eating smaller fish all the time, and funded by shady billionaires the world over.
I don't suggest not watching on some moral ground. I won't watch simply because it turns my stomach. Other people have stronger constitutions.

I will, of course, watch the World Cup next summer. At least that still means something, even if that "something" is becoming more tainted by the edition. But this "Club World Cup" is purely and unapologetically a political and commercial land grab by Gianni Mussolini. FIFA World Cups have become that too, of course, but the action on the pitch in those does matter - unlike here. It's just too artificial, contrived, and nakedly cynical to allow me to park my reservations and simply enjoy the football.

In other words, you can hold a meaningful tournament of consequence in any tinpot dictatorship and people will still watch, despite their reservations. But if the football is a confection of nothingness, the politics and cynicism become unbearable.

Richard Masters will be attending the Real Madrid v Pachuca game in Charlotte on Saturday.

Not that Richard Masters of course but Mrs TT's son who lives in Bristol, Tennessee. He'll have two of his children with him and they are excited beyond words. Richard was a semi-professional goalkeeper (coincidentally, that Richard Masters was also a goalkeeper) and the grandkids - a boy and a girl - are both pretty good footballers for their age.

Personally I'm not interested in tournament at all.

Watching documentary on Fairs instead. Thanks for the info tho  young tommye.
