…israel attacking Iran overnight is the breaking story so far but it is Friday 13th.
To prevent Weapons of Mass Destruction being developed and used.
That's the reason for the attacks and assassinations.
Hey, haven't we all heard that about 35 years ago.

I don't pretend to understand what's going on in that area - I'm just grateful I'm far away from it. But I really don't get the enormous support Israel gets from the US and UK IRRESPECTIVE of what it does. Surely war crimes have been committed and now this open aggression.

I do observe that any comments not supporting Israel wholeheartedly quickly attract attacks and labels of antisemitism from the UK and US media, so maybe I'm being brave speaking up - but bleeding heck - have they gone postal? Put Netenyahu in the same bin as Putin please.
Netenyahu, already a right wing scumbag has had to sell his party to the even more extreme far right to retain control, combine that with the exit of the Biden administration (already far too sycophantic to Israel) and there are few enough guard rails stopping israeli war crimes

I believe an Indian governmental official has suggested a suspicion of a hydraulic or total electrical failure. Concorde in Paris encountered a ten foot bar on the runway that was picked up by a set of the rear wheels and launched upwards through the lower wing which held the fuel. This accident hasn't ruled bird strike out yet. It's taken some force to snap the fuselage in two, the description by the survivor seems to be the plane has snapped and an explosion has pushed him out of the section he was seated. Maybe shock explains how he was so nonchalant, because if I'd not been running and screaming after such a miracle, then I'd have been worshipping the ground I'd somehow ended up on.

Just as an aside, it's fallen on a block of buildings that are full of medical students? Don't these end up working 20 hour shifts? How much sleep can they get 15 seconds under the take off from the runway? I thought Dr's and such got a grim fate here. Rip all. It's been a terrible year for air accidents already, and it's only June 12th.

The working theory that other pilots have is that the co-pilot accidentally put the flaps up instead of the landing gear. That lost the extra lift required at full weight and slow speed and plus you had the gear acting as a big air brake.

Surely there are inbuilt electronic inhibitors to prevent out of sequence actions like that occuring, or at the very least giving audibile notification to both pilots?

As @Eggs says if you try to take off with the flaps up it will set off alarms to warn you to abort.

Perhaps this incident was never thought possible so was never programmed to check. The landing gear switch is nowhere near the flap control so i'm slightly dubious it is the cause , but if you haven't had the appropriate sleep it's easy to think you can make a mistake.
