Going off his recent High Performance Podcast appearance, he still strongly believes that he's a good Premier League striker capable of getting himself back in the England setup. Not really sure where he goes when he's seemingly demanding top wages as a free transfer. Nobody is paying him £70/80/90,000+ a week.

He's going to end up at Burnley and culturalise the place with his fashion sense ;)

Probably have to wait until the end of the month for news. If he was willing to accept a contract reflective of his record then I wouldn't have an issue with him staying but it also does feel like he would be benefit from a fresh start elsewhere.

I don't think he will do better than us for his career, and there doesn't seem to be any Saudi interest for the level of wages that would tempt him.

I imagine that the Burnley forum is just a large wall in the centre of the town where people scratch crude pictures into the wall to explain their primitive knowledge of football and occasionally an educated one scratches in a rune. If he turns up in anything more fancy than a loin cloth whilst munching a leg of a sheep that he grilled on an open fire then boy is he going to get some seriously salty etchings on that wall.

I presume Burnley to be a bit like Bedrock out of the Flintstones and any contract they offer to be in the form of several rocks a week. I wonder if they sell caves on rightmove.burnley.ugh?

Also, has he gone yet?

I'll rephrase it, just for you.

DCL was a handful against Wolves at home in a supposed pressure six pointer at the time ( in front of fans playing for Dyche ).

Forced errors for two own goals, won the free kick for Youngs goal and on a different day were VAR might have been interpreted differently, was involved, with a potential two other goals.

Whilst Cunha and Ait Nouri,
who recently went for significant fee's lost
4-0 and had minimal impact, were as DCL's efforts helped win three points.

Erm ok? Cunha scored 15 league goals and DCL scored 3?

That's probably the Dom conundrum in a nutshell. We know he can perform at this level. We know he can be a handful for defences. We know he has scored goals at this level (under Carlo mostly).

The issue is consistency. Injuries, his mental state, and focus/instincts/finishing ability mean he's very frustrating.

By mental state I get the sense he's a confidence player and if he's not feeling good an unburdened, he's not on it. Fitness does link into this too. With his finishing and positioning he's not a natural and if he's under a cloud my view is he overthinks/doesn't back himself/rushes.

Its probably true of many premier league player. They have talent but getting them playing consistently at their potential is the challenge.

Noted with interest Jamie Vardy's comments on not being sure he'd want to do it all again due to the mental demands of football. An excellent forward, fwiw.

Back to Dom - it's a gamble if we can get him back at his peak (the Carlo years). I've said before I'm unconvinced we can or should gamble.

That's up to Moyes recruitment team and if they can get the quality strikers in.

DCL is better than none to replace him.
