Today’s Football - 2024/25 Season

Calling it now by the way - Tuchel will be a disaster for England.
Ok Nostradamus.

If you'd called it on the day of the appointment then fair play, but doing so after the first signs of poor performance? Genius

Judging the team at the end of a long season, with two lumpy starting XIs comprised predominantly of fringe players feels a little premature. I don't think either of our first choice centre halves played a single minute across both fixtures, which for me is Guehi and Stones when fit. Think/hope Tuchel was using these fixtures as an educational exercise for all

However the next set of fixtures will be key. Tuchel has to decomplicate his tactical/selection approach and simply play the best starting XI available and get into the winning habit. If he continues to duck around then I'll admit then that we're in trouble

Toney, Walker, both Henderson's, Gallagher and Jones in your squad mate, I think it is on the manager.
Jones is good enough (I'd actually start the coat). Gallagher et al aren't.

Felt like a squad and two starting XIs chosen predominantly to 'have a look'. Autumn fixtures will be key - Tuchel needs to settle on a strong squad and play best XI available to get us into the rhythm of winning games under a set approach.

I do wonder whether he's got the ego (or lack thereof) to be able to decomplicate his approach to tactics and team selection. Basically; select the best players available in a formation that the majority of them are used to playing and (if possible) pick as many players from the same club teams as possible.
