Regardless of the administration, the US is still a massive melting pot of people. I just don't see any empty stadiums on the horizon as we have fairly large representation of many different national backgrounds. I'm not trying to play down the seriousness of the injustice going on in this country, but people are going to show up for this tournament. The US knows how to put on a big event and pay nice for a short while. I very much doubt any foreign visitors are bothered, as they will be leaving the country anyway. The people actually affected by these horrific crimes are the ones who are living here now.

The US hasn't had to spend a penny to get this ready, theyve insisted they'll allow "dynamic" pricing, they have their infrastructure to host every team, if they really wanted it.

FIFA is barely the same Corportation it was i. The 80s. Once a governance of world football, it finds itself in the forefront of some fairly big political debates, and for no reason other than Greed. That's why Qatar (smaller than Wales) got a World Cup. Its why Saudi got fast tracked.

Its why Argentina-Uruguay-Paraguay was overlooked on 2030 (barring it's token gesture) so they could get Saudi in ASAP. Its why PIF is the leading sponsor of the upcoming World Cup.

If youre going, good luck getting a game for under $200.

Oh and all athletes are given exemptions. So Iranian players will be allowed in no problem.

Can see the logic of that but they’ve always been despots. The US has shifted and tourist nos are way down. Maybe the pull of a World Cup changes that mind but I’d love to see empty stadiums at it and Saudi tbh

By all accounts, those I know who went to Russia and Qatar raved over how good it was.

The faux annoyance, which dominated the build up to Qatar was almost instantly forgotten by those who travelled.

Despite Trump being unruly, the US ticks on. The bigger crime will be how extortionate everything will be.

I'll be there, but not planning on buying a single ticket. Will watch in bars.

I have no doubt people will go, both local and overseas.

My point was that some supporters won't be allowed to go, because there is currently travel bans in place for several countries, one of which has already qualified.

How does FIFA allocate tickets to Iranian fans knowing that they are not allowed into the country to watch their team play?

I cannot see a change of host on the horizon. Infantino is seemingly very close to Trump and the US appear eager to co-host the tournament.

I look forward to the 2030 edition which is being held in Spain, Portugal and Morocco besides the handful of games in South America.
