This is precisely where logical thinking should get us.

The same gang of players letting down manager after manager. Funnily enough, Italy and Germany (to greater extents than England) have the same problem. You can have as many managers as you like, after a while it comes back to the players.

The World Cup is between Spain, France, and Argentina, with Brazil, at a stretch, joining in. Ronaldo will make it all about him and Martinez will be too weak to put the country first, so that's them out.

I think the media take a lot of the blame for the over hyping of players, Burn, Gallagher, Jones,Walker, Gordon, Skelly are all just above average players, the rest are decent but not a single world class player, a player that can change a game

Skelly is potentially a world class player IMO. And Walker was at his peak. But I agree with your point generally. I can remember before the euros last year you had people like shearer saying we had the the best front 6 in the world, which is a ridiculous claim
