Do we need to move the world cup?

WA Toffee

Player Valuation: £40m
Iran are amongst the first countries to qualify for next years world cup. This is against a backdrop of the US recently implementing laws which prohibits them from entering the US.

So, if fans and even players from a country are not permitted to attend, should FIFA take the step of finding a new host or just host it in Mexico and Canada?

There is a precedent for this, in 1986 when it was changed from Colombia to Mexico

Although I agree with the sentiment, it'll just perpetuate the sports stigma in my country with all these MAGA maggots.

See, what youre missing here, is the US is a total crapshoot of greed.

If FIFA could alternate tournaments between the US & Saudi, they probably would.

The US hasn't had to spend a penny to get this ready, theyve insisted they'll allow "dynamic" pricing, they have their infrastructure to host every team, if they really wanted it.

Infantino will do whatever can to line his greedy pockets.

FIFA is barely the same Corportation it was i. The 80s. Once a governance of world football, it finds itself in the forefront of some fairly big political debates, and for no reason other than Greed. That's why Qatar (smaller than Wales) got a World Cup. Its why Saudi got fast tracked.

Its why Argentina-Uruguay-Paraguay was overlooked on 2030 (barring it's token gesture) so they could get Saudi in ASAP. Its why PIF is the leading sponsor of the upcoming World Cup.

If youre going, good luck getting a game for under $200.

Oh and all athletes are given exemptions. So Iranian players will be allowed in no problem.

Don't disagree with any of that, which is why asked if they should, not if they will 👍

Trump said the ban wont include athletes for the Olympics or the World cup, but fans wont be permitted entry.

Can see this being the most flat World Cup ever, and by quite some distance. The few games that are played in Mexico and Canada should be a decent atmosphere but can easily see half filled stadiums in the US, maybe even go as far as near empty. Dependent on how all this fascism escalates. If we add the endless nature of the tournament, with a quarter of the world taking part, then we have a very long and boring tournament with a total lack of atmosphere.

It has happened before where countries have removed themselves from big tournaments/sporting events. Again, can actually see some doing this, dependent on the situation escalating or not.

I just can't see it.

The central American teams, South Americas will guarantee sell outs and there will be potentially be 14 of them.

Then youve got the amount of persons from those countries like Korea, who are are directly Korean, or descendants and you can probably apply that to 12-14 teams.

Add in the fact the Americans are so used to being ripped off for tickets so $200 won't even be an issue.

I'd be amazed if they were that cheap. The family was looking at tickets for the Everton v Man Utd friendly this summer in Atlanta and you're looking at over $200 for a friendly between two rubbish teams.

The pessimist in me says that the situation over there is only going to get worse. Not even that sure the economy will be able to handle full stadiums at the price that they will be charging for tickets.

They are being rounded up in car parks, etc. imagine the field day ICE would have if they knew there was going to be 20k Mexicans in one place. I don't know, I just see some thinking it is not worth the risk, again though, it all depends on the level of fascism that is still in place come next summer.

Maybe I am too much of a pessimist, when it comes to the situation over there?

I think by the time the World Cup starts next year, a lot of people from central and South America who live in the States won`t be going anywhere near large scale public events for fear of Trump and his goons kidnapping and deporting them.

I can also see a good portion of fans from Europe, who would normally go to a World Cup, boycotting on principle, same as they`re doing with holidays, again due to Trump and his goons.

Trump has been in less than six months and he`s well on the way to turning the States into Trump Land, my gaff, my rules.

I can`t think why any sane person, other than through living there, family or necessity, would want to set foot in the States as it stands.

If the World Cup flops down to Trump, it sends a statement from the rest of the world to Trump ( although he`d undoubtedly come up with some leftie conspiracy or blame the " forens " for it )

No.
It's the World Cup - Both the Hosts and Competitors have to deal with it.

Absolutely YES.

The US has voted in a government that is pursuing isolationist policies and undermining world economy by insider trading. It is also becoming openly racist. It does not deserve to host a global competition.

Are Canada and Mexico co-hosts? Im sure they can cope.
