Off to Belfast with Mrs Purchase, 3 nights and booked for the Titanic museum, which has had good reviews.

Has anyone done the Falls& Shankill black taxi tours?

I am tempted, but a bit uneasy about 'troubles' voyeurism.

What do Irish Toffee's feel about this.
Belfast is good, the Titanic is a very good museum, Do the tours if you enjoy history otherwise get a day trip from Belfast to the giants causeway it's about £20.

Honestly can't see anyone having a problem with that. I personally welcome anyone wanting to learn more about it.

I really enjoyed the Titanic museum and Crumlin Road Jail is a good visit too. The Crown in town is a beautiful pub (like the Philharmonic in Liverpool) but be prepared to pay over £7 a pint from what I hear. I'd avoid the only Spoons in Belfast though (the Bridge, I think). Made that mistake a wee while back going to a gig at the Limelight. About 17 people behind the bar but only one serving 🤷. Loud and sticky, is the only way I can describe it. I'm sure there are a few Belfast locals who can point you in the right direction beer and food wise.

Enjoy, mate. It's a city that's buzzing at the moment.

I did the black taxi tour a few years ago. It was fantastic. It was informative but the taxi driver relaxed us with a fair bit of banter along the way.
It's a very friendly City .

Going to Washington DC this weekend for a music festival.

It's happening on the same day as a massive military parade celebrating the US Army and Trump's birthday 😐

As an American who has never visited Europe.

what's a European gem of a country that one would recommend for a 2 day visit? of course everyone wants to visit Italy, France, Spain, England etc

I've always wondered how Estonia, Slovenia or Luxembourg are like.
Albania or Romania. The first hand stories of what life was like for those on the other side of the iron curtain was really eye opening, Tirana and Bucharest are absolutely amazing cities. If I had to choose one to go to again it would be Tirana. I would probably recommend 3 days though if you have the time

….we recently did Turkey with our son, his wife and our 3 young grandaughters, stayed in Iksos hotel which I’d recommend as fantastic for families but very much put-off by the ‘Turkey Teeth’ brigade we had to share our flight with.

Mrs Eggs and I off to Pathos, Cyprus this weekend.
We have been to Pathos a couple of times, went there for my 60th birthday. If you enjoy Indian food Namaste Restaurant is worth a try. We enjoy walking so appreciated the bus services that gave access to the surrounding area - particular favourite is the walk down from Agios Georgios towards Coral Bay past the shipwreck (its about 6 miles).

….cheers, lost count of the number of times we’ve been but started when our kids were teenagers and have gone at least once per year since. We have settled on an adults only AI hotel, so we tend to stay in for food and booze unless we’re there when Toffees are on telly. Plenty of walking along the lovely promenade from the old church to Pathos harbour.

Took a quick look at the Rixos, looks very nice. Doesn't seem to have any of the pool slides etc that the hotel's along Lara beach do?? Need something to keep my teenagers occupied this August

….the slides are self contained in a kiddies centre, just alongside the main pools, maybe a bit small for teenagers but there is free access to ‘Kingdom of Legends’ theme park which is a must and saves a good few bob.

We like our hotels, the buffet in that place is as good as it gets, booze is terrific.
