Crystal Palace and the Europa League

I reckon they could cope better without him, but he does deserve some credit where it's due. At Crystal Palace for instance, he was the driving force behind the decision to hire Oliver Glasner, who led them to the FA Cup win and at Botafogo (his Brazilian club), he guided them to the Copa Libertadores. He seems well-liked at Botafogo too.

At the end of the day, I am glad we got TFG rather than Textor as I think TFG will probably be able to offer greater financial resources and leave footballing decisions to people with a background in football.
Not this again.
The only “evidence ” for Textor being behind Glasner’s appointment (or having any influence at all) is from Textor himself and it only appeared fromone or two Textor friendly journos after Glasner’s first run of games which were very successful.
Glasner leading Palace to the FA Cup win is a new one though🤣.
The issue with UEFA over our participation in the Europa League is due to Textor’s shareholding in Palace and whether (through the voting rights associated with that shareholding) he has a controlling interest - he does not. Nor are Palace a part of his Eagle Holdings group, in which he holds Lyon, Botafogo, etc.
UEFA have been slow to react over multi club ownership and now they face an issue cropping up regularly that they have previously just nodded through; (Man City & Girona for example).
Having said all that, Textor has upset a number of people in football officialdom including at UEFA. If they can find a way to mess him up, they might.
Palace, with no expectations of European football in March, missed the deadline to put any conflicting ownership shares into a blind trust and UEFA have refused their offer to do it now.
UEFA have to find a way to be seen to do something and find a resolution for future seasons. As no big clubs are in danger of expulsion their commercial interests are protected this season. Palace may yet, however unjustly, find themselves victim to Textor’s haphazard over weaning ambition and greed.

Can’t celebrate a goal because somebody might decide that your striker was offside by a margin inconceivable to the human eye 5 minutes before it went in.

Can’t celebrate getting into Europe because your owner might not actually know what football entities he has investmented in.

Can’t celebrate new ownership because the government might decide that your new owners money and super yacht is funding their enemies and must be frozen.

What a sport
It's not the sports fault.
It is the interest and support shown by the masses that has attracted the spivs and charlatans to the power it wields.

I really hope this gets sorted in a way that Palace can play in Europe.

There's so much wrong with the way football is run these days I wouldn't know where to start. And if I did start compiling a list, I doubt I could maintain my interest long enough to finish.
I couldn't be arsed to watch Spain v France the other night (Murphy's law. Missed a cracker). I won't watch a single minute of the club world cup.
People with no soul, possibly out of envy, certainly out of greed and incompetence, are sucking the soul out of the beautiful game.

The end result, in my case is, I'm a little bit sad and a little bit angry but too apathetic to be truly sad or truly angry.

Thanks for the clarification regarding the Glasner appointment. That does not surprise me as Textor seems to hold a lot of sway with the media.

My posts were mainly relating to different pieces of information which I have read online, some of which you have summarised. I reckon Palace will be alright but we of all teams know all too well how much UEFA likes to meddle in European qualification when something unusual happens. When all is said and done, my interest in what happens at Crystal Palace is at best a passing interest, so you are definitely better placed to comment on their dealings.
