Everton Youth Teams Thread

They offer financial packages that are off the scale so it's another area of football which has financial doping stopping the less wealthy teams from competing. Even Man Utd and Liverpool struggle to compete against their financial muscle at that level which tells the story
Man utd have invested heavily the last few seasons but yeah impossible to compete financially with city Chelsea

Had hoped we might have had sniff but realistically we can't complete with city Chelsea
Maybe it's the young players that are deemed surplus to requirements that we should target but even they go for good money ,Chelsea seem to like ex city academy players Palmer ,lavia delap , possibly gittens
Was always going to be difficult but it's reassuring to know we were interested.

Would be the way I'd hope to go. Let the super clubs hoover up these talents and develop them better than we can and then at 18/19/20 go in for them.

Chelsea and City have been and will continue to be an absolute gold mine for this as they stockpile the best talent without any real hope or plan to play them.

And this is why we will never being able to compete. There has to be a change in the rules. The gap between the city, pool, arsenal or chelsea is huge...they shouldn't just be allowed to sign all top youngsters.

They are...but then their psr will look very healthy because they can sell for big bucks the ones they don't want and all profit for them as homegrown players.

Their PSR will look healthy but you could easily build a Top 4, dare I say title contending team with just their academy scraps. They'll also give us a much better rate than if these players were breaking through at a smaller club, just look how much Saints want for Dibling!

….i’m surprised about Eli Campbell given his loan spell at Ross County ended with them being relegated.
Yeah, that was the one i noticed and thought, do they see it worthwhile him still being here, especially if we are still hanging on to Reece Welch

Yep , I honestly thought Campbell hadn’t shown enough to warrant another contract. Owen Barker was in the photos at the end of the final game , although fully clothed. I wondered if someone thought a bit more highly of him but obviously not.
It looks like all the 2023 Scholars have ended up with contracts. There’s a few now ex Scholars like Finney and Catesby who have struggled to make an impact for various reasons, it’ll be interesting to see if they can perform at u21.

Are the first professional contracts for the players you guys expected ? Any odd ones in there, or missing ?
Basically they’ve given professional contracts to all Scholars coming to the end of their 2 year Scholar contracts who didn’t already have a contract. So no missings at this level. A lot of times in recent years we’ve guaranteed a pro contract to promising players to get them signed as Scholars. The devil can be in the details of just how many years they are offered .

Luca Davis is really the only one I am surprised to see get a contract, I’m guessing that’s more to make up the numbers at the u21 level.
Finney and Van Schoor I could take or leave, but assuming Dixon and Heath are getting loans for this season, they’ll get a chance to strut their stuff in the u21s this year.
Foster played very well this year and deserves a look at the next level up.
I am very high on Thomas and expect he will be an integral regular starter for the u21s this year. Hope he can bulk up a little over the summer.
