TV Series

After putting off watching it for years, I finally got around to watching - Vikings, all six series and 89 episodes !

It`s not often I don`t want a tv series of this length to end, but this was one of them.

Outstanding, not as glossy as Game of Thrones, but not far behind it and just enjoyable in it`s own way, due to not being as complicated.

Some truly outstanding characters, Raganar, Lagertha, Floki, Bjorn, Ivar etc and I loved the way they picked a truly international cast for the various parts, based on the right person for the right part, rather than just picking a big name.

Loved the sets and costumes too.
It started brilliantly then sadly tailed of a bit - but a great series to watch - The first army to almost conquer the world - brilliant stuff in parts well worth a watch ;).

- York today was their main centre of activity as they took it over - still thrives on their history selling memorabilia etc - It was their main base in the UK

6 deep into Department Q.

Great watch and a brilliant cast , Mathew Goode really steps up as the wayward cop pushed out of mainstream policing to solve cases left on the shelf.
Really good series based on 10 dark Scandi stories.
Hope there's more in the pipeline.
We have watched 7 episodes & it just gets better & better - Its based a a book - the Swedish noir series ran for only one hour x 2 was good , but this is far better .....

Yeah, the last series was a bit of anti climax, as it just wasn`t the same without Bjorn or Ragnar and with the various threads going on at the same time, it felt a bit disjointed.

I confess to watching it twice , which I dont often do.
There really isn't anything you could change to make it better and that means a lot to me.
The storyline , the cast , the locations are all top class.
I also loved ( being a bit of a history buff ) the detail in facts rather than just made up Hollywood rubbish tips this as one of the best series ever to be made.

The only thing I`d have changed, was I`d have kept Bjorn, Lagertha and Floki in it until further on in the series.

The cast was magnificent, a lot of thought went into which actor, would be play which character, which led to a truly multi national cast.

A lot of the Wirral too, all along the Dee Estuary- West Kirby, Irby, Geasby, Hoylake , Meols etc.

There`s supposed to be a Viking long boat, with full grave goods and a king or queen buried in the car park of the Railway Inn at Meols, which a local historian found via a lot of research.

They`ve been digging for the past few years.

Floki in it right up to the end mate ( hope that doesn't spoil it for you )

On that note would have liked the great Travis Frimmel to have been in even longer , but I accept it fits the story.

Agreed, but I thought the development of Bjorn and Lagertha into the central characters almost covered his absence.

The only person I thought was miscast, was Gabriel Byrne as Earl Haraldson early on, as he just have the menace or presence that the character demanded ( imo )

True

But my fave is Ivar ( the boneless ) wickedly fascinating.

The Railway changed the pub sign a couple of years ago, it’s round the corner from me and I’ve been in about 10 times in 30 years, if that.
