Might be best for both parties to separate. There’s always the other side of the coin. He’s been saying recently how difficult it was wearing the number 9 for the club recently as we’ve been in relegation battles. Whilst that’s obviously a stressful thing to have to do and not great for a striker to be in a poor team, the other reality is that had we been a good team he wouldn’t have had the years of being an automatic first choice striker in a PL team that he’s had. We replaced Lukaku with no one and apart from Tosun for a period in 17/18 and 18/19 he’s basically been automatic first choice upfront. Had we been even half decent at any point he wouldn’t have been and would have spent a lot longer on the bench.

There’s obviously the longevity which is why he is where he is on the PL goal scorers list for us but he’s a rung below Lukaku Rooney (first time) and Yakubu for me. He’s in there with Ferguson and Saha maybe.
He’s nowhere near any of them, the gist of what I was saying that for a limited player, he’s made a go of it which you can’t knock him for but in an ideal world he wouldn’t be playing upfront for us.
The proof of the pudding will be in the future.

My favourite Everton player of the last decade personally
And he left us 8 years ago. Says a lot about our recruitment since.

People give DCL loads of grief for not being good enough (and for other reasons) and desperate to get him out the club with comments even blaming him for us being in the relegation scraps but maybe that blame and anger should be at the club. We sold a £90m striker and tried to replace him with what was a £1m signing from lower league.

frustrating player as he has all the attributes to be a class act. Unfortunately in recent seasons he lost his finishing touch and technique.

I literally have no idea what youre on about or even comparing here.

For starters DCL did a interview talking about leaving us to play CL football. Then was stated he was joining arsenal in the summer at the end of the interview.

Then you say its not fair to compare lukaku to DCL because the former was in a attacking set up but the later was playing dycheball.

Which i thought you were trying to imply it was unfair to compare them because DCL had less chance to show his ability. Then you go onto say but DCL isnt good at scoring goals and was really good at holding up the ball which whould mean he was better suited to dycheball rather then Martinez style of play.

So he would excel playing for dyche over martinez so you contradicted youre own point there.

Just to point out the fact that DCL doesnt get many chances but he doesn't take many chances either.

Season goals xg BCM

24/25 3 7 16
23/24 7 13 16
22/23 2 6 6

(BCM , big chances missed)

So you can argue he doesnt get many chances but the chances he does get hes more then likely to miss.
It is unfair to compare them because you compared them on the basis of both saying they weren't staying but one scored more goals so can be forgiven
I am also saying Dycheball is not conducive to scoring 20 goals but also acknowledging that he isn't the best finisher, which your stat supports, both things can be true at the same time
Dom fell into the striker role and it seems it only works when set up for one touch finishes headers from byline crosses such as under Carlo.
I don't think he should be the main striker next season, in fact could see RW or 2nd striker as a better role but whatever happens happens, even rotation might suit him better under less pressure.

btw all strikers miss big chances and he definitely has got far less of them under Dyche

Haaland scored 22 and missed 21 big chances
Salah scored 29 missed 24 big chances
Isak scored 23 BC missed 18
Watkins scored scored 16 big chances missed 27
Jackson scored 10 BC missed 19

Only the top 3 strikers in the league just about managed to score more than big chances missed and their misses are always forgiven quickly by fans, team mates and themselves because they'll get another chance soon enough to make up for it so the pressure isn't the same.

Anyway, all in all I reckon he would do better under Moyes if he stays and things like the club's survival isn't being thrown on his shoulders

If he doesn't stay then it's all moot

Calvert Lewis RW? 😮 😆

What are you expecting for 1.5m? The bigoted comments were clearly connected to the knuckle draggers he triggered because of the items of clothes that individual chose to wear.
What kind of logic is that? If he’s a starting centre forward for Everton, I’m expecting him to at least get on the pitch every once in a while and when he does maybe not flap constantly at one on ones with the keeper and maybe have a better goal record than 1 in 5. I don’t care how much he cost initially, it’s what he’s doing 9 seasons on (and what he allegedly wanted £150k per week for) which I’m interested in.

Wanted 175k but adjusted to 150k mate.

I heard he wanted the James money of £625k a week after tax

If he was even a half decent striker we wouldn't have been in a relegation battle. his misses over the last few season have cost us points.

terrible striker.

He doesn't make the top ten list of EFC strikers in the last 20 years and he's been with us for 9

I'm afraid this just isn't true mate.

DCL has scored goals that kept us up. But more to the point our struggles councide with him being injured and unavailable.

Our relative improvement coincides with him playing more.

Over his career he's probably been a slightly below par finisher, but a very good forward.

If he's nowhere near the top 10 list as you say, why havent all these strikers scored more goals than him? Why have only 2 scored more than him over the last 35 years?

In the last 20 years, can you name me a single striker who in consecutive seasons that has scored 13+ league goals in open play for example?

That's the problem with the hatred of DCL. It ignores reality. He has been an exceptional singing for us, arguably our best in the last 8 years pound for pound. And is probably our best striker of the last 20 years after Lukaku. Had he not been injured, that would not even be in doubt.
