New sponsor needed

According to the Guardian, the Directors of EFC have been written to by the gambling Commission to say that they may be criminally liable for continuing to allow Srake to advertise as they have lost their UK liicence.

Personally, we should never have defiled our shirt with that trash.

We will do well to get the same quids from another sponsor though.

If the club can drop Stake without forfeiting the sponsorship money then I'm sure they would/will do it.

The bigger question here is why almost every club outside of the elite has to rely on gambling sponsorship in the first instance. Yet again more leftover crumbs from the super clubs feast.

I don't think anyone wants this type of sponsorship in an ideal world but for some reason it seems to have been all that's available at the minimum level required to contribute to income streams.

I am critical of the previous regime for almost everything but here it doesn't seem there were other viable options.

It will be interesting to see who the next shirt sponsor is and what the deal is worth, particularly in light of the underwhelm regarding Hill Dickinson.

It looks like Everton may not have been one of the clubs whose directors were sent the letter about being criminally liable. Would still love to see the back of Stake though.

Whilst im not a fan of the sponsor, it's really key to note that, Stake may not operate as a gambling company in the UK but they still operate globally.

So like we couldn't get anything Keijan, we just wouldn't be able to with Stake.

Ultimately, they were trying to argue at one stage that, whilst their primary function is gambling, they were saying the name "stake", was more than that as a loophole. Haven't seen an update on that though.

They also gave up their license, as opposed to it being revoked (pushed before shoved I imagine).
