You can’t talk about signing Grealish purely on whether or not he’s good at football.
Of course he’s good at football.
But the profile is all wrong. 30, and on eye-watering wages.
Even if we somehow only pay him half his wages, it’s still too much.
We can’t have a huge gorilla on one end of the scales when we’re trying to balance the squad for PSR. It’s not good for the books, and it’s not good for squad morale.
It’s the most Moshiri signing I can imagine.
And he's good but even at his very best he wasn't a top top player. If we were paying £150k for KDB (assuming he is over his fitness issues) then that's a different matter. You can’t talk about signing Grealish purely on whether or not he’s good at football.

Siggurdson improved us. He was better than what we had but he was an absolutely collosal waste of money. Even if he achieved his peak form and scores 8/9 goals in a season he would only be replicating what NDiaye did for far less out lay. Not the player we need.I think you can. I know nothing about football finances but I do know what I see on a football pitch.
If you are confident or that is your passion then fair enough, talk about the wage, what any bonuses will add, what will City pay and how will that affect PSR, etc.
What I see is a player that will improve us, the injuries are an issue that leaves me about 50/50 on whether I see this signing as a good one.
I suppose on a connected level, regarding finances and how the fans would spend money, what we have is a player that will improve us, improving on the pitch makes us more appealing to other players. Maybe players that have a more financially appealing aspect (if that floats your boat).
I understand the concern that if we pay too much then we could be in trouble but nobody here knows the budgets that the owners are setting out. Maybe they have a budget for a couple of players that will increase the value of the short term, I certainly don't know.
If he was relatively injury free while here (Crystal ball needed for this one), and based on what I do know, I would like to see Grealish as an Everton player.
I don’t actually think he’ll come…as i mentioned in my post. As i doubt we could afford to pay even half his wages.Do you think we have an unlimited supply of money? We will have a budget to spend on wages. Paying Grealish salary for however will take a big chunk of that. We will not get any money back for him. We already have a more productive, younger, hungrier player who plays in the same position. It would be a dreadful use of our limited resources to get him.
You can't. Recruitment isn't that simple.I think you can. I know nothing about football finances but I do know what I see on a football pitch.

People pay way too much attention to those injury lists.I think it’s a dangerous deal for us. We’ve spent years trying to recover from excessive purchases buying a fair few players at the tail end of their career.
If you said he would take £150,000 a week he’d probably want a 3 year deal. Plus any sign on fee and transfer fee. That alone is almost £23.5 million just in wages with likely absolutely no resale value. You’re banking on him being fit for the majority of that time.

Now that isn’t the worst injury record I’ve ever seen but it’s worrying that it’s a lot of groin and calf injuries in the last few years. I’m not a professional athlete but from a person with legs similar to Grealish I’m telling you once they start to go they don’t come back. Last year his record wasn’t that bad but missing 15 games a year in the previous 2 seasons for somebody you’re probably going to build a team around is not a good idea.
I’m not doubting his quality overall I think there’s far smarter ways to invest that money in the squad. I don’t think there’s anything wrong in having older players in your team but having them as your talisman is not a prudent investment.
I don't think many people are saying he's literally not good enough to get a game for us are they? It's more that all things considered he wouldn't be a very good signing.I don’t actually think he’ll come…as i mentioned in my post. As i doubt we could afford to pay even half his wages.
I find it more staggering ppl turning their nose up at him as not being good enough when we have endured Harrison, Lindstrom and other non entities for several seasons
