The new marina area is quite nice. They do boat tours out to the caves, which were unfortunately cancelled the day we went to go due to the wind. Your kids will probably enjoy the experience of getting the lift up from fishermans beach, nice views over the harbour when you get to the top too. Depending on how old your kids are, they will be able to either eat free or very cheaply at one of the many all you can eat restaurants.Off to Albufeira on Saturday with the family for the first time. Actually I do remember a few days out now, vilamoura marina, qateira on market day and a couple of other towns but can’t recall their names now, also booked a jeep safari which was great and a Portuguese night up in the mountains which was also fantastic with an endless supply of piri piri chicken, sardines and jugs of sangria….. enjoy yourself mateOff to Albufeira on Saturday with the family for the first time. Love nyc. I sought out the memorial in my 1st visit in 2008. I expected more than a little disk on the floor for some reason!Spent some time in New York City last week. Got to see The Dakota (Yoko apparently still lives here?) and a memorial for John Lennon in Central Park. Impressive building.

Sure I done a trip to monchique, up a mountain and it was freezingVisited not so long ago and a guy I work from the region sent this:
Here are a few good places to start:
Tasca do Petrol/ Monchique:it's in the middle of nowhere and you have to reserve but it's one of best spots for traditional Algarve dishes (mainly meat);
Restaurante O Teodósio/Guia: original "frango da guia" - chicken barbeque
Inevitável Wine Bar/Armação de pêra: for wine and tapas
Sapori da Giovanni/Armação de pêra: pizza
Riviera Cake Shop
Pastelaria Riviera/Albufeira: they have pretty good pastries
Faina/Portimão: mainly for the view
Finally Sol Dourado/costa vicentina: probably the best seafood place.
I never got there. Looks amazing though. Interior Algarve has some incredible spotsSure I done a trip to monchique, up a mountain and it was freezing![]()

Stay away from the main strip (unless you enjoy a sunny version of Blackpool).Off to Albufeira on Saturday with the family for the first time. Anyone been before? Any reccos?
