2024/25 Dominic Calvert-Lewin

With the greatest of respect, if he's gone as far as being suicidal, he is obviously not cut out for football anymore.
Its a work environment were you just cannot be like that and survive

If that's the case, quitting football will be what saves his life...................................................oh no wait, that would mean giving up his £80k per week wouldn't it.

I don't know if its me being a bit old school or what. But it feels like he is looking for justification and acceptance, when he should be more assured of what he's actually achieved.
He's a Premeir League footballer, whos played for England, and from what i hear from ex acadamy people at Sheff Utd, he's worked extrememly hard to get there. He should be proud of that, he should be enjoying this part of his career.

Its your grief tourists that play on this kind of stuff and make him think that this is what he should be doing to receive acceptance

Mental illness is not down to presure or being in the public eye though is it?

Mental illness, or healthy mental wellbeing is something regular people go through every day, wether that is triggered through work, financial difficultys, trauma or addiction.
In a way everyone suffers from mental illness, but people deal with it in different ways.

I just dont approve with people like Jake Humphrey or Steven Bartlett playing on that making people think that EVERYONE should share there problems. It dosent work that way for everyone.

Jake Humphrey is not a mental health expert or psychiatrist, maybe Calvert Lewin shpuld speak to these type of profedionals instead.

Real people with real troubles dont share it all over the internet just to boost there ego or get a few likes.
No offence mate, but you’re coming across as a bit of a knobhead here.

It’s not the 60s anymore fella.

I’d bet you he has spoken to “professionals” about it, and having public figures coming out and speaking about their troubles goes a long way to showing our teenage and young adult males that it’s ok to talk about. I’m not going to pull up the stats on male suicide, I’ll leave that to you to find out for yourself but it’s stark.

Go and read through the mental health thread and maybe just stop commenting on something you clearly know eff all about.

I wish anyone, whether it be DCL or anyone else who suffer from mental health struggles, the very best. We all have a degree of mental health don’t we? Whether in it’s ‘tamest’ form, it’s a lack of self confidence, or self doubt through to anxiety or at the other end, severe clinical depression, we need to be far more tolerant and understanding as a society. He seems like a nice guy, so wish him well whether that be a continued stay here or elsewhere.

I have just watched the clip in which he is discussing his time under Ancelotti and it makes me feel disappointed in the sense that other managers have not played to his strengths, but also in that we have lost our supply line over several years.

When he played under Ancelotti, the emphasis was on one touch finishing and it proved highly effective. Thinking back a little further, we had a better supply line at the time (Digne, Sigurdsson, Rodriguez, Richarlison) compared to what we have had in the years since. Having said that, I do think that our supply line is perhaps starting to recover. The lack of the supply line in those years, as well as persistent injuries and ultra-defensive tactics have probably led to his goal tally nosediving.

It is disappointing that we have not played to his strengths since Ancelotti's time here, however, as he was one of our best players when performing at his peak. I reckon he could still be a decent striker, whether for us or someone else.

Any striker will look decent if they're being set up with decent chances they can finish in one touch.

Read my previous posts about people using mental health as a tool to further there podcasting careers or public image, while others suffer.
Its dangerous
It doesn’t matter whose platform it’s boosting, the main thing is, we keep talking about it.
Especially true where people who kids (and adults) look up to are concerned. I can’t see trying to break the stigma around it as anything but a good thing.
