2024/25 Dominic Calvert-Lewin

I think most of us appreciate the effort when he does play, but also accept that he doesn't contribute enough as he is always injured so has to go
Its not about the injuries for me. I dont think he's good enough. His numbers just dont cut it. In the last two seasons he's started 45 games and has 8 goals from open play. Season just gone Beto started 15 games and has 8 goals from open play.
Alas, it's both - he's injured a lot AND doesn't contribute a whole lot to the bottom line when he's not.

Think if would have done something like this earlier would have got alot more love from the fanbase.
I actually think he’s been showing it to a degree for the last couple of years when he’s been playing and not scoring - you can just sense the pressure he’s under to score and I actually think that’s his biggest stumbling block - if Moyes has time with a fit DCL and can somehow untrap him from his own head, there is a good player in there I’m sure. I think he’s so tightly coiled now under the pressure to stay fit and to score, that he’s getting more injuries and falling apart in front of the goal all of the time .

I think he needs mental coaching - similar to whatever Pickford had after the VVD incident - he has been so much stronger mentally since then and his game has improved no end because of it 👍 I think the same could be the making of DCL - at least I hope so anyway.

Should not need to. There was stuff out there about him being suicidal though.
True and i am not defending the abuse has got online and to his family. Just an interview like that in person even with the club media helps it gets it out to the fanbase eaiser. I get is hard to talk about but i do think is something going forward would be great here more from players so both csn build a relationship

Undoubtedly players who live their lives in public have to deal with stuff few of us ever have to. We all forget that.

Good luck to him. But it has to be elsewhere because his time here is at a natural end IMO. It wouldn't serve him or us any good for another contract to be handed out to him by Everton. They'd be doing his mental well being a disservice.

It’s one of the hardest and bravest things to do. Look how long it took for Dele to speak about his trauma.

With the greatest of respect, if he's gone as far as being suicidal, he is obviously not cut out for football anymore.
Its a work environment were you just cannot be like that and survive

If that's the case, quitting football will be what saves his life...................................................oh no wait, that would mean giving up his £80k per week wouldn't it.

Tyson fury had suicidal thoughts and subsequently won a world title , should he have given up boxing ?

I think a sport like football and a club like ours which saw a former player take their own like should have more respect for someone talking candidly and honestly about the difficulties they’ve clearly faced .

I don't know if its me being a bit old school or what. But it feels like he is looking for justification and acceptance, when he should be more assured of what he's actually achieved.
He's a Premeir League footballer, whos played for England, and from what i hear from ex acadamy people at Sheff Utd, he's worked extrememly hard to get there. He should be proud of that, he should be enjoying this part of his career.

Its your grief tourists that play on this kind of stuff and make him think that this is what he should be doing to receive acceptance
