Why do Evertonians hate their own players?

Only Everton player iv genuinely hated while they played for the club was Schneiderlin
Micheal Keane after Vardy bullied him at GP in the cup.

I've never seen an Everton centre half in all my years get bullied the way he did that night, and to magnify the whole thing it was that utter Bograt Vardy.

Never wanted to see him anywhere near an Everton kit since.

I think sometimes hate is misconstrued for disliking the quality of player. For sure there are some that go beyond that and do seem to hate, but for the most part I wouldn’t say it’s hate. It goes the other way too though, with some thinking that because a player is criticized it automatically equals the hatred of the player.

I've been a member of this fine website for over 15 years on and off, i have met a few of you but still find a few blues use this site to HATE the lads who try and win game for us. I have never understood this.

Anyone know why? The "Everton Darsss" shout coined by Azul was very accurate. I was in the Park End and heard literal boos for Dom and " He wearrrrs a skirrrrrt"

Whats this all about blues?
@the sniderman had a theory. Something about father's who had a:

Probably the most mentally weak, easily bullied player I have seen never mind at Everton. I get the cold sweats anytime Iv seen his name on the team sheet. Mind you never hated him. Almost fell sorry for him till I remembered how much he's paid and then I thought, nah

Players can be criticised. It doesn’t mean fans hate them. Fans of other clubs don’t wander around in this blissful optimism never saying a bad thing about any player they have you know.

It’s so weird why some want to perpetuate an idea that Everton fans are somehow bad for the club and its players. The club would have gone under without the fans in recent times. Leicester fans were leaving the stadium early and booing their players during a relegation battle. Everton fans gave them coach receptions and full houses home and away.
I was responding to your Everton specific explanation regarding 30 years of failure, no more, no less

Never done anything but love great Everton players. We've had them on one hand over the last 25 years.

Standing on the terraces - the verbal abuse our players got was horrendous sometimes - fans are fickle - no internet back then - Cliff Marshal our first ever black player - he got dog abuse for his colour - John Barnes had bananas thrown at him when taking a corner etc -

It was basically working men letting off steam after a hard manual weeks work - the language was terrible even aimed at our own players & we had a brilliant team - Joe Royle the stick he got for replacing the GV - made me realise he was going to make the grade a superb no 9 - my hero sad to see him transferred to City where he excelled - the Latch stated he wanted him as a striking partner ....
Bingham thought otherwise!
