Transfer Rumour Liam Delap

I was a rather amazed we so publicly threw our hat into the ring for this player .
Had he chosen us it would have been a sideways step for him . He has already proven himself in the lower half of the table and now he has understandably backed himself to compete at the top level and gain experience in European competitions .
As others have said , we need to be identifying and signing these players before they become attractive to the top clubs.
We also need to concentrate on non British players , they command too big a fee and demand too high wages ( plus most are technically inferior to their continental counterparts.)

You saying we're on par with Ipswich?

You'd have to think it's very low odds of working out for him at Chelsea. They need to challenge next season from the off, he won't get much time to find his feet and risks becoming the latest young english player on the scrapheap at a Sky club on wages that prevent a transfer elsewhere.

Can see why he would go though - perceived status, CL next season, and probably double the salary we would offer.

Not surprised he's gone there too much. If it was United though. See if he kicks on but it'll be tough for him I think. We move on but good to see that the club are actually trying to go for these more ambitious transfers rather than the usual cast offs.

Neither of them are the battering ram kind of forward they need to play the Drogba role

Neither is Delap. He doesn't bully defenders or hold the ball up. He's good at dropping deep and carrying the ball. He's not exactly rapid at it either.

Personally don't find him as mobile as Jackson. But he's a better finisher.

He seems very much in the Harry Kane mould which is why I think some people are gaga over him. Don't think he'll get anywhere near that (especially at Chelsea) but could be a solid PL striker - Danny Ings levels

£200.000 a week and 7year contract, he could get a crippling ingery in the first year. And still be getting paid all his contract what's not to like about Chelsea.
