I agree with this. I think he would have been a useful player for us, but let's not pretend we're missing out on the next Harry Kane. Had he gone to Newcastle, I would have felt he was a smart lad. Now, he might prove to be even smarter than that by making a real success of things at Chelsea and making the World Cup squad, but I wouldn't take a bet that he'll manage that.

Made sense, decent fee, decent prospect etc but we move on. Still think it’s an odd choice with Chelsea, I could have understood NUFC for him at his age.

I'd say he's got a very good chance of displacing Jackson, or at the very least being rotated with him. His bigger issue would be whether he's going to be the only striker they sign this summer.

Not the end of the world. Had a good first half of the season but tailed off quite a bit.

Only contributed to goals in 11 matches across the full season with 8 of his 12 goals and both his assists coming in the first half of the season.

Good luck to him. Wouldn’t be thinking Chelsea is the wisest choice for a young player but each to their own.

Decent indicator that we have a good budget for a striker though.
