Manchester United

Honestly can't believe Armorim hasn't been fired yet. Everton's squad was headed for relegation and couldn't score for love nor money, then Moyes came in and had us in European qualification form instantly. Amorim inherited a squad worth about a billion quid and made them not only worse but significantly worse.
It's one of two things. Perhaps they trust in him to make the transformation over the summer and beyond to the squad, and this season has been written off.

Or they can't afford to sack him...

Is Amorim out of his depth? Yes, he encountered similar problems at Sporting, and during his first summer jettisoned over twenty players.

However, United is another kettle of fish and the PL is not the Portuguese league, so the model for one may not transfer over to the other with ease.

This is a squad of over-paid, self-righteous yet experienced internationals, who will not want and cannot be forced to walk away from lucrative contracts.

The likes of Rashford aren’t going to go anywhere on the cheap and other teams know that; United will need to burden some of the cost.

There are too many teams in this league who, if given the chance, will get into a team like United, so unless you tactically adapt you’re vulnerable.

I doubt they’ll be as bad as they were this season, nevertheless the gap towards the top of the pyramid will likely widen anyway.

I think they will be, probably worse. They rode their luck a few times. May not go on...

Keep it up Jim yer scruffy arl get.
To be fair, I think Kelly Simmons is smoking her socks if she thinks ANY womens team is given parity of esteem by any of the clubs. And, in a game that is now more business than sport, what is she expecting exactly?

It'd be like saying a fourth division men's club would be given parity of esteem with Manchester United. It won't. It doesn't draw the crowds - and the money. Of course, I think more progressive people than Sir Jim'll Brexit For You would see investing in the women's game as a smart future punt. Our own owners would appear to be among those...but Kelly probably thinks giving the women Goodison is a bit of an insult too, so there you go.

United are in a mess. If they retain Amorim and give him the players he wants this summer, to play his favoured system and they have a bad start, he will be sacked and players bought will have to adapt to a new manager and new system all over again. To think Moyes got the sack for a 7th placed finish and quarter final of the CL?

I don’t think they can afford to sack him , but they might have to. Millions lost for a poor league finish and penalties by sponsors. Big Jim will have more cost cutting to do.

Completely agree but the mere fact it’s drawing bad press for them is music to my ears.
