Manchester United

Doubt it’ll cover the 100 odd mil they lost for losing the Europa final and the losses in dropping from 8th to 15th, or their massive transfer debt and spiralling debt interest payments though

Might save a tea lady or two though
No, yeah, I get it, it's funny and very cringe.

The likely several mil they've got from this will no doubt be used towards the "we're actually okay" PSR avoidance they'll have this year again. This is Man United, the biggest brand in world football, they're not gonna get fined lads*.

* I hope I'm wrong, but it's the PL and money that's involved; a quick look at Chelsea and United themselves up until this point show us they'll be fine. Maybe a little slap on the wrist, banning transfers for a winter period or something.

It's not really about him having his United contract honoured though. He's frozen out of the team so it's in both parties interests for him to go elsewhere. The problem is, his output on the pitch is nowhere near the level one would expect for the wages he's on. United were foolish enough to pay that, but no other club in world football would be. So, he either lowers his demands, or what? Sits in the reserves at United? This is a guy who created the impression of having a social conscience, so it's a bit sad that he seems to favour money above all else.
Or he is not as bad as he's being portrayed and knows that there's a new manager around the corner and he'll be back in a short while.

After all, the guy with the social conscience and the basket case club trying to shed costs in all the wrong places might indicate that all is not as it seems.

I expect a redemption arc in his United story - There's 300k a week reasons why this might be the only option available for both sides.

(Having said all that, I would not be surprised if the real story was closer to your summary than mine)

Honestly can't believe Armorim hasn't been fired yet. Everton's squad was headed for relegation and couldn't score for love nor money, then Moyes came in and had us in European qualification form instantly. Amorim inherited a squad worth about a billion quid and made them not only worse but significantly worse.
