New Everton Stadium - Hill Dickinson Stadium

All the great stadiums look fantastic on the tv when packed with 70 to 80 thousand fans, but when you get to visit and see how far away from the pitch you are in your seat its not as fantastic.

I think The Millenium/Principality Stadium does it better than most. The Bernabeu also feels fairly intimate for an 80k stadium. Overlapping tiers and increased ratio safe-standing could still do it for those big capacity stadia.

yeah if they ever expanded BMD then an overlapping third tier would be the way to go.

You'd have to fabricate two posts if you wanted to use it. Perhaps they will try and flog the actual ones at a later date, though they way they couldn't be bothers to undo the fixings and sawed straight through I doubt they will be bothered tbh.
Sounds too much like hard work :) I think I will just prop it up in the garden as an ornament. Must have had about 50 coats of paint on it so will assume it will not rot

The Bernabeu has the stands very tight to the pitch, but the upper tier is very high and steep. The second tier is at a really nice height and not too steep.

My grandad bought his seat from Spurs although they also sold him both pieces but no mechanism so you either have to build it yourself or buy something he is a bit of a hoarder so managed to find something suitable to fix it to!

Seems a bit of a strange capacity your new place but somebody somewhere must know, or think they know what they're doing. I remember the 80s Everton 53k wouldn't be anywhere near big enough. Still seems like exciting times and was pleased this last season wasn't the all too familiar from previous seasons when you struggled. Definitely onwards and upwards.
During the 80s most clubs were lucky to get 20k - gates over 40k even at Goodison were few and far between usually Derbies & cup ties.
The Monday league game v Palace in 2024 only sold last few tickets on the night.

Yeah i get that mate, was more referring as to how good you's were back then. For what it's worth i think you'll more often than not sell out and maybe 58k to 60k would have been a better capacity.

Our away following has been one of the few remaining signs of just how big Everton have been (and could possibly be again). Every non-former Everton manager we've had during the slump decades have been almost incredulous when noting the numbers Everton attracts on the road. It's out of whack with almost all of the rest of this football club.

Spot on amd still the best measure of what defines a big club IMO. We've the greatest fans for support provided on that score compared to value received.

Yes, going all seated meant that the Bernabeu had to go upwards to preserve capacity. The upper tier would not be allowed in the UK as it's approx 40°. I have sat in the upper tier a few times, I found it ok. They were the cheap seats.
