And yet his stats aren't as good and comparing them in the recent game at Goodison if you asked someone who didn't know the Prem which one was rated at 30 million it wouldn't be Delap.
Some of his stats are better than Than
Beto’s, he’s also just turned 22 and played his first full season in the top flight for one of the worst sides. Beto is 27 and had 4/5 seasons in England and Italy’s top flight, you’re buying potential with Delap.

Exactly. So if he isn’t as effective as Beto, then he gets dropped. He doesn’t sign a contract with any guarantee of making the first team, never mind starting.
Moyes will be telling him he’s our number 9 and will be starting. That’s a guarantee.

Being less effective, well we will only know that a few months into the season

Delap has scored more this year for an easily relegated side than Beto did for us since he's come in, and he's 22.

30m for a potentially fantastic 22-year-old player who has proven he can score goals in the Prem and people are saying it's a bad deal, when we paid 30m for Beto and the same people were spewing nonsense about him going back to KFC less than 6 months ago.

Everton fans, that.

A lot to pay for potential,if we look on the continent we can find the same potential at half the price. And as I said looking at that one game Beto looked a dangerous handful for defenders whereas Delap looked anonymous.

It’s not a guarantee at all, it’s a figment of your imagination! Managers may talk about pathways etc, but nobody worth their salt provides guarantees with a disregard for form.

Beto has played 60 games for us and in 40 of them he hasn’t looked like a footballer

Delap has 12 goal’s 1 in 3 as an under 22 player in his first full season in the premier league. I’d guess That puts him in the top 25% in prem history for under 22yr olds on their first season and probably the top 10% doing it in a relegation team

Well if we sign him, I will bet you as much as you like he starts the first game of next season 💰

….the aspiration for signing him is he’s better than what we have, otherwise it’ll be pointless bringing him in. Whether that turns out to be the case, only time will tell.

I hold the opinion that we need more than one competent striker, and that having more than one wouldn’t be pointless tbh mate.

I think he’s an exciting prospect and I’d be happy for us to sign him, but I neither agree or believe that he’d be a guaranteed starter at Everton right now.

Goals per minutes on the pitch is a better barometer to use.Beto had his confidence dented by Dyche yet still came good. Delap had a decent start to the season then fell away, for 30 million he's way over priced there's the same potential out there for far less.
