LFC Parade Incident

Terrible news this....

Firstly I'm gonna apologise for earlier comments,
I wrongly thought it was an accident caused by overcrowding in places fans weren't supposed to be,
going off word off mouth and limited footage I'd seen and based on my own experiences of driving round the city with big crowds.

Whatever the reasons for the drivers actions there's no condoning it and I hope the people involved are OK.

Rivalry goes out the window with events like this noone should ever go the match or a sports event and get hurt or not come home....

Have to say I'm disappointed in the lack of prep from the council on this.

There's several turn offs for drivers to head away from that direction and it wouldn't take much to put road blocks in to avoid cars getting that close to the main crowds.

They knew well in advance the numbers of people who were going to attend,

They also should have realised early on with the delays that the road closures would have to be extended.

Terrible Terrible day, thoughts are with everyone involved.

Could be a far right terrorist, could be a guy in cardiac arrest, could be a bloke who was annoyed he couldn't get down the street, could be all kinds of things.

For now, I just hope and pray nobody is going to be mourning the loss of a loved one tonight. That's what we get behind. Forget whoever the driver was, that will all be raked over. Just hope send your love to those who are waiting for news.

I can't even imagine.

I don't want to.
Hear hear. Fella is in custody and will get what’s coming to him.

Irrespective of his motives there are people in a bad way after going to celebrate a flaming footy trophy. I’m not the praying sort but keeping everything crossed that all involved make a full and quick recovery.

Sorry for having a go at you myself before. My lad was out earlier so my emotions were running high.

Completely agree regarding the council and police.

If this is just a fella who got angry because he got inconvenienced and then turned his car into a weapon to push his way through then good luck to him because when he hits HMP he is getting filled in daily.
Many people drive like absolute knobs around the city I find. Obviously not to that level but there are many dangerous weirdos out there. People lose their heads over strange things.

Hopefully no deaths and just a few broken bones and the guy will end up witu about ten attempted murder charges and do a long time. How he was allowed to drive down that road is beyond me.

I can't work out if this is serious but it seems too soon to joke. I have no words to describe such ignorance.
It’s not a joke. This whole incident is horrific, but my reply was to a poster who had decided it was definitely a terrorist attack, now it’s been announced it was a 53-year old white male arrested, the same poster has now said it’s not a terrorist attack. What a truly sorry set of affairs.

I had a Quick Look on Twitter and the same dullards were tweeting about it. Tommy Robinson, that Anderton fella. So unfortunately predictable.

It's completely depressing that the colour of the driver is fast becoming the main talking point here.

The absolute state of things nowadays.
People forget that terrorists are terrorists based on their motivations and actions, not their skin colour or religion...

But based off newer info it sounds like a fellas lost his head/panicked and his actions have caused innocent people to get hurt

White/Black Scouse/Asian Male/Female …. Whatever….

They need the book throwing at them and torturing in the nick.

Most importantly though let’s hope that there aren’t any more fatalities and that those injured make a speedy recovery

tbh the fact they kept Walton road open last week with all the crowd outside goodison really surprised me at the time
Got told it’s about which authority pays for it. If the Police demand it pre event then the cost is theirs, but if the crowd becomes a problem then it’s an emergency issue down to the council

Left and right wing social media keyboard warriors using a tragedy for political agendas

To be honest it’s difficult when you open facebook (I know, my mistake for opening that cesspit) and as soon as the news are up the majority of the comments are “wonder where he’s from”, “vote reform”, and “funny” comments about immigrants and skin colour.

It’s absolutely infuriating, and as someone on the left I don’t even know what a realistic solution to stop the deepening of this sentiment is anymore. It feels like it all is out of control and like no rationality is left, and if there is any, it doesn’t work to bridge the divide.

After all is said and done, left or right, it’s the palpable lack of empathy in all these discussions that is scary. There are families, on this occasion, literally next door, who are in a state of panic right now, and about to have their lives changed. My own daughter was going to go down there tonight but fortunately changed her mind at the last minute.

We live in deeply concerning times.
