New Everton Stadium - Hill Dickinson Stadium

Tbf, if this gets built, its likely to be on the Costco land as thats where the HS2 station was going to be. Allows for a tunnel under the Mersey and coming in over the Wirral. Another terminal station but serving the North of the city. If only we'd not closed Exchange station......

That would be a transport hub, with connections right across the city.
I'm sure there's reasons for it but can't see why Exchange is never mentioned for HS2. Literally nothing in the way of the track approaches still except the offices themselves (which are very dated, I work there). A new Exchange could really help accelerate the flailing business district.

Can't get my head round the hot wok, a jarg Chinese takeaway is now a staple of the club

Love it though.
Cool kids are surely gonna head to San's 😎

and for those who don’t drink like me it’s ok 😂🤷🏻

i’m more worried about the getting to and back from we’re i live in huyton
Yeah it's not great from Huyton, I have family come in from there and the routine will remain Dale St for a few but then walk down instead of train then walk. We really don't do public transport well in this city. Maybe the bus from Commutation Row would be your best option?

We should have built it bigger but in the circumstances, it might have finished us off if we had to find another £200m to build say a 60k.

The difference in income for that extra 7k isn't game changing, it's roughly the wages of 1 decent player (if they are all sold and you don’t get too many kids/pensioners on concession rates).

Stadium size ultimately won't be the difference maker unless the bottom falls out of the TV market.

The ROI is just not there for the extra 7k worth of seats.

Exactly this. Problem with extra seats is they are a) the cheapest tickets and b) most expensive to build. 10k extra seats is maybe 10 miilion extra per year at best assuming stadium is sold out every match. But that is offset by the increased stadium cost which unfortunately has to be paid back, with interest. Even assuming club could have survived an extra 200 million or whatever loan interest alone would eat up the income.

Further issue is that if every match is not close to sold out, a lot of people will not buy a season ticket. Especially people who don't manage to go to every match. Why pay for matches you don't attend?

Exactly. For all the moans and groans about the capacity, my point is that the club would have made it larger if they felt it was viable.

It's an emotional subject. If Utd, Newcastle, Chelsea and others build new stadiums ours will be bumped down that list mostly because of the capacity.

The rationale to why it was built they way it was almost takes a back seat. Although if you haven't got a ticket to the new stadium you can understand why people would want it to be larger, especially after hearing stories of members only managing to get tickets to a couple of games. That should improve after the novelty wears off.

Of course it's an emotive subject for fans, although the rationale behind it (from the owner's perspective) is not rationale. Therefore, we need to be objective.

In the cold light of day, if we were to truly put a larger capacity at the forefront of the build, then I don't think BMD would have been the location to do so.

With the location of the build and the complexities of construction on an old dock, space was already at a premium and we were facing additional costs.

A larger foot-print somewhere else and reduced initial expenses would have likely offset the increased cost to build the additional 10K or so seats.

Would people have been happy with a build in Gilmoss? I doubt it. Could BMD's location facilitate an extra 7k seats with the already stretched infrastructure?

With hindsight, if we had opted for a 60k stadium at BMD, the additional expense could have toppled us into the financial abyss that we came so close to.

Don't get me wrong, my heart has always desired a larger attendance (even if a few thousand), but my head has always felt the club have acted sensibly.

As I said before, if the club felt the additional cost was viable (again, it was their money to outlay) and would bring a suitable ROI, they would have done so.

The fact they didn't, well it says a lot.

This is baloney.

Wish people would stop telling us this rubbish.

They didn't go over 60k because the then hierarchy were weak, had no belief in the fan base. I mean who on earth comes up with 52888? It's just a few hundred more that Newcastle. If they had ambition if they had bo locks, they have just gone biggest stadium outside OT. None of this size envy nonsense from Meis.

Made a balls up on number of seats we have to live with it. Maybe TFG might find ways to increase the capacity, squeeze more in.
