Is Everton financially stable enough to be a selling club again?

Under Bill everyone had a price, and it was always much lower than any of us would expect. This meant we could never assemble a good talented squad and hope to keep it together long enough for it to be a success.

Recently, it’s been worse than that as we have had to rely heavily on bringing loans in, thus developing players for other teams as we can't afford the initial outlay to have players of our own who are good enough to develop to a high enough standard. Despite this we have somehow managed to bring through a couple of really good young players (thinking of Branthwaite/O’Brien).

Can we seriously expect to hold onto young players who are highly valued by Clubs in Europe with a much higher budget?

Is selling young developing players still fundamental to our financial survival like Bournemouth/Brighton/Palace/etc?

Are just seen as a useful stepping stone for young players to get a bit of first team experience, so they can be picked up by someone else?

Is it just an inevitable side effect of PSR?

Selling players is just part of the game. I’ve never understood why people have a problem with selling players for the right price. Literally every football club on earth does it.

Makes perfect sense to sell players at the right time to get a decent return and invest that money on young talent.

This is the model we should have been doing years ago.

“Top 6” Clubs seem to bring in enough money to keep the players they want to keep and only sell fringe players (at a huge profit). It means they can keep the side together longer to develop as a team.
I can only really think of Pickford and Baines (perhaps DCL last Summer) that other Clubs have actually wanted and not got, even then it’s probably down to the small amounts offered.
(I suppose ManU’s comedy bids for Branthwaite last summer count as well)

Yeah, but that means all our best players leave and the squad never improves.

All of the top 6 clubs have sold first team players.

I remember everyone banging on about how important Iwobi was, we sold him and have been a better team without him since then.

The main issue is that whenever we do get a decent young player breaking through, the media to all in on selling him and how he'll double his salary and how this player needs to be playing European football to reach their potential. That's got to have an effect on a young man in the game.

This is all nonsense. Very impressive I must say.
Who was Roomey’s replacement?
Who was Lukaku’s replacement?
Who was Onana’s replacement?
Who was Iwobi’s replacement?
Who was Richarlison’s replacement?
All players we doesn’t want to lose, but had to sell. How many of their replacements were improvements?
