Anyone else find “presented the project” proper cringeworthy?

We shouldn’t be trying to compete with Man Utd and Chelsea for players as they can offer silly money.

We should be looking overseas and in the lower leagues for little known or un-fancied players with upside.
The phrase or the actuality?

Of course they’re going to outline what the plans are..

I would think that we can be a lot more definite on that than MU or CFC.

If he goes to MU and it pays off then he’s right up there. If not, then he’s already on the slide, so it’s very high risk.

CFC he’ll probably more easily get lost in the crowd, potential for lots of bench time, as others have pointed out.

He will have more of a starring role here for sure.

He's not long turned 22.

He should be prioritising playing time. Does he get a game at Man Utd, Chelsea or Newcastle?

I'm sure we'd offer comparable wages to elsewhere.

Everytime I've watched him Ive thought he looked like a perfect Everton forward. He also can't half carry the ball, which we desperately need.
Yeah he’s not the finished article at all but he protects the ball superbly well and he strikes a heavy ball. Would love us to have a striker who can shoot properly again (Lukaku, Saha being probably the last two).

I think in a better team he has to do less dog work as well, usually see him coming off around 65/70 so hopefully it’s just to do with the work he’s getting through.

Like you say, looked like a proper Everton 9 at times - except against us funnily enough! - and a real statement signing in terms of media perception.

I suspect that’s simply the reporters slant on it, I highly doubt anyone at the club rang his agent and said ‘we would like to present the project to Liam
Equally I doubt anyone meetings involved a PowerPoint slide show either.

It's just Fabromano being dramatic, all his posts sound bigger than what they are

“This is what it’ll look like when the teams come out.”

“This next one is how we envisage it looking with the fans booing a pass going backwards after 7 minutes.”

“This one is a mock up of the stadium emptying around 39 minutes to get a pint before the rush.”

Fabrizio Romano tweeting about Moyes being involved in discussions as a good thing 🙄

Wor Liam, I’d want you on the end the diagonals from wor Jimmy and wor Tarky, run the ball to corner flags and then cross to the big man running from deep. We’re hopeful of getting wor Tommy Soucek in to put his head on them, how’s that sound?
Liam? Liam? You still there?

Sadly won’t happen his agent will either have him sit on a bench at a Chelsea type club for money
Or Newcastle will sign him if internally they know isaks on his way out this summer..
Outside of that we would be ideal for him for a few seasons while we rebuild
There’s no way Newcastle sell isak this summer, not saying Delap will come, but im
Sure sitting on the bench with a World Cup year is not in his plans. We should try and get this done early and not give teams like Villa if the sell Watkins to get involved.

Not seen him play much but seems highly regarded. However, I can imagine if he went to Chelsea for example the next time you would see him play was when he was shipped out on loan somewhere. Given his age he would probably get better development opportunities at Everton but given we need a massive overhaul of the squad it might not be wise to plough a big proportion of the transfer budget on one relatively unproven player

I’ll say one thing for him, £30m is a fair bit for a young lad who isn’t the finished article yet. Expect his agent will be after £100k / week minimum to come here too.

If and it’s a big IF he comes here, I can’t wait for the groans after his 4th or 5th match when he’s miss controlled / directed a pass or not scored his 2nd goal yet.

I dont see other clubs offering Top draw elite salaries to Delap and pretty sure we would offer him high end of our own pay scale.
For me it would be down to playing time and progressing his career which puts us right in the frame.
Can't see a Champions lge team putting an unproven rookie front and centre they would want big game proven experience.

On the " behind the black ball " comment I would think that Moyes referring to other clubs pitching in for him well before us as we have not had any recruitment personnel in place since Thelwell left. Plus being assured of our Prem status.
That will be the same with any players we are now targeting.
He's nowhere near the finished article but I like what I see , let's hope we pull it off.
