So if Z Cars is stopping us from leveraging the overseas fan, what song do you think will help us attract them?

Or maybe it’s a case of recognising our heritage isn’t the reason we have been poor for 35 years. That’s down to the limitations of our owners over that time
My original comments are not about a song, they are about embracing an opportunity for change. I'm tired of being run with a small club mentality. But each to their own.

I have no problem with 'there she goes' being played occasionally at 2.35pm (or thereabouts) in the playlist leading to our 3pm kick-offs - fine! Are some people advocating we ditch z-cars though? And 'It's a Grand old team'?? No thanks.

It's enough we have to endure leaving our historic home and ALL media calling the new ground the 'Hill Dickinson' to also get rid of some other sacred traditions.

Id play it ahead of "big" games just before z cars, like the derby or whatever.

It sometimes feels like people who complain about the likes of Z-Cars and the Everton songs being played don't actually watch any other teams play and have never been to an away game. Pretty much every club does some sort of variation on exactly the same thing, it's absolutely not something that's peculiar to Everton. Football clubs are big on tradition and appealing to a shared sense of identity, to the point that clubs without much of such things often manufacture them to make it seem like they do. It's quite weird seeing people talk about it as if it's only us that act the way we do.

In most games, I think most fans at most grounds just ignore them too.

Personally I would play There she goes, but for some games. I.e the derby, or night cup games or whatever. A bit like what we do with that Elton John song

Kodak, Woolworths, Blackberry and Blockbuster all relied on their history. They failed to adapt and became irrelevant. We both want the same thing but my strategy would focus more on brand building and leveraging overseas "customers" to generate the income required to compete. To your point, lineage means we wouldn't lose our local fanbase.
Shoestring, Taggart, Spender, Morse.

What does that tell you about regional detective series?

Do you remember when we swapped Z cars for 2 Unlimited? Peter Johnson wanting us to embrace change.

I'd ditch grand old team simply because it mentions Liverpool. I find it embarrassing. Replace it with there she goes.
I'd ditch it cos it was only really sung occassionally from the 80s on the terraces and then that cheesy version (iirc BK put it in place) from early 2000s sort of cemented it.

I think 2 unlimited was originally a Tony Cottee song. There she’s goes was brilliant at Goodison but wouldn’t be a personal choice for the new stadium. I think we should still keep Z cars personally with modernisation before.

Daft punk anyone? 🤷‍♀️

I would ditch GOT from the pre and post match playlist as well and just leave it as a terrace chant.

I would include “There she goes” as a pre-match song and think about “In my life” by the Beatles prior to kick-off. Its words are poignant but reflective of our thoughts of Goodison and people we went with/go with.
The added bonus most people know nearly all the words.

I think we need something new pre-match and something everyone can sing in all 4 stands at BMD rather than pockets of isolated chants.

Something to get all those commemorative scarves twirling above the heads.

There She Goes, I Guess That's Why They Call Us The Blues and In My Life should all be played pre or post-match. Great songs that all mean something to Blues. But absolutely no to ditching Z-Cars or any other important tradition. These traditions are what made us and the club we love. Without the history, songs, toffee lady, past players then what are we.
I'm all for a shiny and wonderful future at Bramley Moore, but let's not ditch all the factors that made last Sunday so beautiful.
