I'm all for hearing suggestions for alternative songs-just no American rock 💩 or anything that 50,000 people can't sing together.

It sometimes feels like people who complain about the likes of Z-Cars and the Everton songs being played don't actually watch any other teams play and have never been to an away game. Pretty much every club does some sort of variation on exactly the same thing, it's absolutely not something that's peculiar to Everton. Football clubs are big on tradition and appealing to a shared sense of identity, to the point that clubs without much of such things often manufacture them to make it seem like they do. It's quite weird seeing people talk about it as if it's only us that act the way we do.

no brainer it gets taken to BMD

lightning in a bottle that on sunday, no way they expected near enough everyone in the ground to join in

one of the greatest songs ever made, by a blue, it’s got to be
Spot on mate.

My 14yo and 11yo have been signing it constantly since Sunday.

Obvs they had heard it before on my playlists around the house and in the car, but now it proper means something to them after Sunday, instead of just being a great song, same as Elton Johns track did after the Tarks derby and again on Sunday - they belong to Everton and us.

Lightweight supporters purchase products which generates income. If you want to limit yourself to local heavyweight fans that's fine but we won't progress.

Changing songs or tradition just won't attract those lightweight supporters you speak of though. No club in world football has seen a bigger upturn in fortunes over the last 15-20 years than Man City, but Blue Moon is still very much associated with the club. You don't get any bleeedin success by changing songs, you get it by doing things right, having money and ambition with maybe a touch of luck thrown in for good measure.

Hey I could be wrong though. Maybe @GrandOldTeam should change the website's nam to Blueyakasha.com. The kids are still down with that aren't they? *puts orthopaedic slippers on

Z cars is as much part of Everton's iconography as Prince Rupert's tower and blue shirts.... this isn't the X-factor, we're not trying to manufacture a new plastic brand, fad or franchise. It's pure nonsense to suggest that you cannot have History/tradition AND future success.... they are not mutually exclusive phenomenon.

I agree with both sides of this debate. I think we should keep most of our old rituals and traditions, whilst also adding new ones to them every now and again too - There She Goes can sit alongside Johnny Todd, just like Richarlison with a blue flare can sit alongside Eddie Kavanagh with a policeman’s hat. They are all memories and moments and sights and sounds that makes us blues blue.
