Elton & McCartney's set up takes 24 hours to rig up but people where expecting them to just show up,plug in and start singing Let it be and Rocket man...not to mention the pair would want about 2 million a go.
I dismantled another poster for a similar post,with who was actually on stage, and their standing in the Liverpool scene but I won't do it to you coz I like you as a poster,but let's just saying there was a lot of Evertonian musical talent on stage.

Let's face it if Macca wanted to be there he would have been there.
His dad supported Everton, his brother supports Liverpool. Truth is he does not like football.
Exactly, on a financial or practical level it was completely impossible. Even if Macca himself waived his fee the cost of the setup, the band, the crew would've made it a ridiculous and unnecessary expense. Anyone thinking they'd get a free Paul McCartney concert thrown into the cost of admission was off their head.
