Lazy used to be my favorite shout.

I remember a game at Old Trafford the fella behind me saying "yeah he scores goals, but he doesn't work hard enough for the team".

I remember a game at Palace - he uncharacteristically chased a ball down to win a throw in on the half way line and the travelling fans gave a huge cheer of encouragement. i.e. that’s the kind of effort we want to see and will get the fans on your side.
He responds by waving his arms as if to say the crowd isn’t doing enough to encourage the players. That turned the cheers a little sour.
Quality player, but infuriating at times.

Would kill for someone like him now.

He probably thought the cheering was ironic. Let's face it he didn't do tracking back,kept all his available energy for slotting

*enormous Caveat that he’s playing against comfortably the worst premier league side I’ve seen in about a decade.

Will take notice when he does that against proper teams and defenders.

Still didn't need to stray offside for the 2 disallowed goals
Missed sitter in first half and should have buried header in 2nd.
So didn't score and should have got 4
Not bad for his best game
Just shows how bad he's been

Has he really been that bad? At least he’s getting into a position to finish 2, offside or not both decent finishes. Broja useless complete waste of money DCL the same Beto the best of a bad bunch but he’s scoring goals at premier league level not an easy task.

I agree he's the best of that bunch
But we still need more if we want to win anything....we need to be more positive..before I am no longer

I think over the course of a season he would easily reach double figures with proper support around him in a team with a decent shape. Brighton and Brentford have both had 3 players all reaching double figures in goals in the league. We have Ndaiye (9) and Beto (8) who are nearly there, just need one more on the right imo. I think this is a far better way than trying to find that mythical "15-20 goal a season" man. Id keep Beto and I don't really understand Moyes handling of him its weird, these stories that he still views DCL as no1 just make him look a bit silly imo.

i don’t care what else a striker does if he scores goals and stays fit. The fact Beto also gives defenders a hard time, chases everything and is improving all the time is a bonus too!

I would be looking to improve the starting left back, right back, right wing, centre mid before him but it’d be great to keep him and have someone in as good competition too.

That was frustrating feel whoever is the cf dcl aswell just constantly offside we must be top of the league for it. Is so frustrating and is just lazy in most cases not checking the line. Will say thought he had better hold up play vs southampton

Shame he didn't score against Southampton as I'd have backed him to score today and hit 10 league goals for the season.

It’s a good question and might even be part of the DCL controversy. It’s funny how fans take to certain players. DCL was once one of the rising stars of English football, an Everton no9 but you feel the fans have never fully taken him to their hearts yet we have Beto with all his failings yet he’s increasingly popular.

Why me he said, it’s a funny old game.

I think part of it, is that until Moyes came in, Beto didn't really get a chance. He was always put on for a small amount of time. Also I think he generally means what he says about Everton and our fans, he shows genuine passion on pitch.

Excellent today though should have done better with the header and then the left footed shot at the end. But he gave their centre halves a proper game and brought others into play.
