The fallen

Player Valuation: £35m
I’d say that we have a grand old history, and have been at the wrong end of the table for a long time, 4/5 year?

Seeing Man UTD and Tottenham struggle this season, had me thinking - who’s next? The logical one is Chelsea, the amount of money they are burning through and I honestly can only name a small handful of their players, their turnover is extraordinary, how long before another established name is struggling at the bottom, Leicester as a title winner being relegated still baffles me.

I genuinely believe UTD could be a good bet for relegation next year, they will probably buy 4/5 players this summer and some will go through a purple patch, I think if they land Cunha he will likely get a Beto number of goals.

I really struggle to see how one of the Scab 6 go down with all the money and players they have. Even a poor Spurs and United have been safe since Christmas.

It would require a complete collapses on and off the field for one of them to go down. I shall keep my fingers crossed but wouldn't put money on it.

villa sink without Emery, leicester are an oddity, PL champions 2015-16, FA cup winners 2020-21. No idea where arsenal go next, they've spent an awful lot of money to effectively stand still. newcastle and man city backed with sovereign wealth washing.

Sadly United have far too much money to be relegated, Spuds too probably. They'll just buy their way to safety if they need to. Plus there's the Sky6 factor.
Wet Spam must be due a relegation some time soon, not had one for a few seasons now.
Their debt is massive though, they currently get away with it due to their sponsorship deals covering the interest etc...

No European football sees these deals plummet in value as they're reportedly heavily incentivised....

Going to be interesting to see how they work around their latest failure

Again you're looking at the quality of the 3 coming up. I think it's going to be a recurring theme that they'll be going back down without massive investment.

Maybe Leeds could hang around if they shell out but it's long odds.

For anyone to be relegated you'd need the three coming up from the Championship have the requisite quality to stop up.

Sheff U/ Sunderland have zero chance honestly, both of us have massive squad issues and limited budget to do anything about it. Burnley even less so then the others imo (they basically relied on defensive masterclass this season, and that won't hold). Leeds have the best chance, but honestly I think they were of a lower quality then either Leicester or Burnley of previous years when they won the league - and they didn't fare well at all. Leeds will spend the most though you assume.

Obviously there's always the chance a team gets their transfer window completely right, but it's really unlikely.

I think people need a dose of reality re. Sides going down

Man Utd won't be goi get down anytime soon. They're following a trajectory of Everton under Moshiri.

Sign anyone, everyone and hope it sticks. Reckless decision after reckless decision.

Although I dont think anyone expected Amorim to be this bad.

As @SAFCInPeace said, sides aren't good enough coming up.

They've finished 17th, but by nearly double ipswich. Next year won't be much better, but expect a weaker Wolves, then some other fall backs like Bournemouth when they're gutted.

I think with United it's less about whether they can realistically be relegated (they can't) but whether they can return to a comfortable top half side.

It's possible b/c of all the problems mentioned they turn into a mini post-Moshiri Everton. I could see them finishing bottom half again next year, which is kind of like another relegation to them

Not to relegation levels, but I could also see Palace (and Brentford/ Brighton if they got there) struggling with the demands of european football as well. Man U (and yourselves I suppose!) by comparison, without any european football, will be fairly fresh.

Their bubble will burst at some stage.

They've spend £180m this season, net. The media have a real soft spot for them so as opposed to asking "what's gone wrong?", when spurs and United are faltering, and they're currently relying on Villa and Forest doing them favours to make Europe on the final day, they're saying "it always takes 2 years to come good".

Having loads of money is only a benefit so long as its spent wisely. United`s problem lately is the more they spend the worse they get. Them getting extra cash for the CL will hopefully put them in a worse position than this season.
