Mastercard: Millions of consumers could get £70 after fees ruling

It is not necessary to have held a Mastercard to make a claim following a tribunal ruling.

You don’t even need to have ever had a Mastercard, just purchased something from somewhere that accepts them during the stated time period.

Am I a member of the class?​

You are automatically a member of the class if you (i) lived in the UK (for at least a continuous period of three months) between 22 May 1992 and 21 June 2008; (ii) were aged 16 or over during this time; (iii) (for non-business purposes) bought goods and services from businesses selling in the UK, irrespective of the means of payment used; and (iv) were living in the UK on 6 September 2016.

What happens next?​

A registration portal will be launched soon so UK consumers can claim their share of the settlement. The process will involve filling out a simple online form – and you will not need to provide proof that you had a Mastercard.

Payments are expected to begin before the end of 2025.

Ffs! A consequence of me never falling for any business scams (everything too good to be true IS), and never believing figures and claims, (so eg never buying a VW) since the great endowment mis-selling of the 80s is that I miss out in all these compo payouts.

You can't miss out.
Because mastercard were billing all businesses, all businesses passed the charge on to general joe public, across the board, so all prices were illegally inflated because of this behaviour.
The concern here is, the pot isn't large enough, every man and his dog will fancy a free evening in the pub and will apply. They aren't running proper background checks for the sake of 40-70 quid. They can't even be assed tracking down ppe fraud and covid vip access scams (or the furlough disaster).

I read that but my concern is what does 'soon' mean and how visible will the 'launch of the registration portal' be.

There is currently no requirement for any mastercard use/ownership attached, because they were billing businesses for their use, even when you paid cash you were charged higher because the retailers passed the mastercard charge on. So we all suffered.
