2024/25 Abdoulaye Doucoure

Personally I’m not gutted by this news. I think it suits both parties, he gets to go out to a club that’ll offer him more and our club can go and look to build upwards with his replacement in that position.

Doucoure frustrated the hell out of me a lot of times with his use of the ball, but never doubted his efforts when he was on the pitch and seemed to be one of the only players that didn’t run out of puff for the 90 minutes. I’ll also won’t forget the crucial goals he did pop in with, not least the Bournemouth goal. Goodness knows where we’d be now, but for that thunderbolt, for which I’ll forever be thankful and wish him all the best.

Never forgave him after City away when we had them on the break and he passed it all the way back.

Terrible footballer.

Granted, he's scored some vital goals, but if he produced something in the other 30 games a season we probably wouldn't have been struggling.

It’s correct though isn’t it? He cost over £20m and has left for nothing. Whether people like it or not, resale value matters to a club like us who make no money from other avenues.
I suppose it's a matter of realised value. We lost far more on the likes of... gomes, mina, tosun, schneiderlin, delph, gbamin, Bolasie I can't blame for an ACL, sigurrdsson was different again and carries his own can. We got some product out of Doucoure, and for the saviour goal he probably paid for himself, I reckon the support were exasperated with him because we could see he cared and tried, but his limitations shone. I maintain he has been crucial to us as one of the few players we have with the physicality to absorb the punishment in midfield, with him officially leaving it'll be telling who Moyes gets in to protect the short and light players like N'Diaye, and Gana, I'm not sure how much steel there is with Alcaraz, and McNeil is no bruiser. The PL referee system doesn't like us, and without some fight in the side I can see us ground into a fine paste by your classic allardyce and Dyche and pulis sides.
