2024/25 Charly Alcaraz

….definitely the 3rd best achievement from a manager in my lifetime, I think him keeping us up given all that was going on was extraordinary.

I fully stand by the thread and reasoning I gave for that view ;) Seems a lot of posters agreed;

I mulled over this for a minute to consider what other managers in my lifetime have really achieved, but then I'm in my 20's.

You've actually seen us win stuff, mad to me that you could say top 3 achievements of any manager in your lifetime, but each to his own I suppose.

April 2024 😂

Statements like "he's the third-best manager in my lifetime" are just as extreme as dismissing Dyche entirely. No manager who consistently goes on lengthy winless streaks each season can realistically be seen as the "third-best manager" at a club like Everton. Do you attend matches?

I can confirm categorically that for me Dyche would be a million miles away from 3rd in achievements. Here are the Everton Managers in my lifetime. During that period we qualified and played in Europe 13 times. Even if you class staying in the league as an achievement (which it isn't, it is the lowest bar possible) he would be far down the list.

David Moyes
Sean Dyche
Frank Lampard
Duncan Ferguson
Rafael Benitez
Carlo Ancelotti
Duncan Ferguson
Marco Silva
Sam Allardyce
Ronald Koeman
Joe Royle
Roberto Martinez
David Moyes
Walter Smith
Howard Kendall
Joe Royle - 1 FA Cup, 1 Charity Shield
Mike Walker
Howard Kendall
Colin Harvey - 1 Charity Shield
Howard Kendall - 2 League Titles, 1 FA Cup, 1 Cup Winners Cup, 3 Charity Shields
Gordon Lee
Billy Bingham
Harry Catterick - 2 League Titles, 1 FA Cup, 2 Charity Shields

….you went to all the trouble, this is the Alcaraz thread

Hopefully Moyes follows the stats :

Alcaraz has already managed three assists, making him joint-second for Everton in the Premier League this season. He also averaged 0.22 expected assists per 90 minutes, with only Dwight McNeil (a regular set-piece taker) managing more. In terms of key passes per 90, again, it’s only McNeil with a higher average. Passes into the penalty area, he leads the way for Everton, while he also has more goal-creating actions per 90 than any other player. Carries into the final third, you guessed it, he leads the way once again.Everton just seem to be a significantly better side when he’s on the pitch. In fact, Everton score 1.49 goals per 90 minutes when he’s on the pitch, the highest in the team (only bettered by Youssef Chermiti, but his stats are skewed due to play just 45 minutes). We concede around 1.22 goals when he’s on the pitch, compared to Abdoulaye Doucoure’s 1.20, so it’s not exactly a major drop-off -

Played a lot less minutes than Doucs so I expect better stats if he played the same as Doucs. Just shows stats are crap and not reliable.

1. Kendall, 2, Catterick, 3. Royle. 4. Gordon Lee, 5 Moyes, 6, Martinez, 7. Silva 8. Dyche. That's in my lifetime.

What higher standard player that’s available for £12m should we be looking at?

I think he’s very good and hope we buy him.

I agree , show me another opportunity to sign a hungry , 22 year old player with technical ability and looks like he will become a prem player , for 12m …

Just look at lookman … how much you reckon he’s worth now ?

At 12m there is very little chance of this signing being a financially bad decision and it’s highly likely that we will make money on him if he turns out to be even a middle of the run prem player

Absolute no brainer for me

Kendall 85 season
Royle taking a team from the relegation zone to safety and the fa cup
Moyes taking a team from 17th one season to 4th

That’s just off the top of my head
