New Everton Stadium - Hill Dickinson Stadium

Surely if there was going to be any sort of major delay Everton would have announced it by now. Would be incredibly embarrassing to do all that yesterday but potentially play at Goodison at some point next season…
This is it really. A scenario where the first game isn't until mid September or so isn't a big deal. If they couldn't reach that deadline then there would be a pretty big story brewing which would surely come out in the next few weeks. They are just behind from what I can make out, but not to a degree where the time can't be made up and/or it's going to turn into a bigger problem requiring alternative plans.

First game in the hospitality

The biggest shame about Sunday for me to be honest. As good as the atmosphere was, and as nice a day as it was weather-wise, it would have been so much better at night to say goodbye, ending with a firework spectacular. Fireworks in the daytime is possibly the dumbest thing I've ever seen in my life.

My guess is they had planned it before they knew when the match was going to take place but once they found out they should have packed everything up and, like I said, waited for a night game at a later date to get out the light show. The one thing they could have done was pumped in a bunch of that blue and white smoke above the stadium as the songs were kicking off. Oh well, stuff like this rarely goes off to perfection. The main thing was the win, the good weather and everyone's great demeanor. Part of me was expecting the worst once they approved the alcohol situation. It doesn't take too many ornery drunks to ruin a good time but the fans were great and didn't hang a dark cloud over a bright day.

Can I get large fries with the whopper please?

The tunnel club thing is just construction walls, there’s no fit out even close to happening there because the initial one was of such poor quality. None of the fit out has started on the other lounges either.

There’s what, 5/6 lounges? Oh, and they’re still deciding on the name of that pub they had people vote on. So, none of the branding has started for that.

Just look at the photie posted a few pages back and tell me I’m lying.

Yes, but it'll never cut any ice: a tenuous connection to a long gone Everton chairman is a fig leaf that wont cover this embarrassment.

(law firms and lawyers in a city have indirect links to each other over generations? Who could have anticipated that?!)
Do you know what, I don't care. Compared to what we have had to put with for the 20 years or so, its a nothing being ragged over namning rights. Reckon we at least got competent owners. Myself can't wait to have Everton back and football as one of my esacapsim from life of bills and money management.

Which stand is supposed to be the Gwladys Street equivalent? I thought we had one huge stand behind the goal. The “blue wall” - I thought that was the north stand but it’s two tiered?
The south stand is the "Blue Wall" and when they sing :

"North End, North End give us a song ..."

... it will probably be heard in Preston !

The voting closed last month for the naming didnt it, and it was never due to be announced until just before the stadium opened, so Im sure they know the result and branding is underway/completed. Possibility also of course that the branding template was designed a long time ago and they just change the text.

Ive worked on a lot of construction projects over the years, and there is nothing in those pictures that would overly concern me in terms of progress.

Now, there may be truth in a delay, it could be all sorts of stuff that has lead to or caused it, but those images certainly aren't proof of it. Theres also little evidence of anything being 'ripped out', its simply all still at first fix.

I'm not scaremongering here, just what I know from lads working on it and folks at the club in areas that cross over with the build - same as I've always shared on here about it.

For example, when Everton put the video out about the badge being fitted in the changing room, that was just for looks. It took a few days to redo as the badge was damaged during the fit. Sure, its been fixed now, but even the changies need redoing in some areas. The toilets are not finished, there is damage on some of the player's seating areas, and the big table in the middle of the room is damaged too.

They are all fixes for later down the line because of the job that needs doing in the hospitality and offices.

Night game on a Monday night, many in work next day…coming from work to ground. Would have lost that carnival atmosphere plus allowed ppl to leave the ground under their own steam. Not better rush got work at 7

Surely lang o’rourke would be liable if they did as you suggest such a poor job

The players seats have a little damage?! CLOSE IT DOWN FOREVER

There have been many whole lounge refurbishments in close seasons at most stadiums, including at Goodison. Some with major reconfigurations etc. It's a regular occurance.

It's only an issue if other major works are still outstanding or there are difficulties with funding or the companies/contractors tasked with the job.

I believe Spurs had a major electrical job to do when they were delayed. Obviously LFC had the problem of the main contractor going bust. In terms of construction works, as far as I am aware, we have only had the roof-drainage problem, which the club claimed was due to an incomplete system..... and since then the on-going issue of recoating some steelwork under the stand. Is there anything else that might have delayed final fit-out? Of course we also had the whole ownership hand-over, financial and boardroom restructuring etc. Maybe some things have been put on hold while the new owners assess everything? Maybe they'd like more boxes?
