Hard to even put into words yesterday - surreal, magical, heartwrenching, joyous. I might have a go later in the week.

I can say though, I went for a couple on Dale St in the evening, intending to stay out on the lash. It was terrific but I felt really weird, a bit disconnected. I just put it down to the emotion of the day, early start, travel etc. Got off about 9ish.

Then walking through town this morning, getting some brekky, going in E2 to pick up a copy of that farewell book before I caught a train back to Bristol, I just couldn't shake this really strange feeling. - For the first time ever, despite being born here, despite moving back for a while after a long time away, despite having a season ticket for nearly 10 years, despite coming back and forth from Briz every other weekend for the last 4 years... I felt like a stranger, like an alien, like a bloody tourist. It was so 'kin weird and I just couldn't figure out why.

Then walking to Liime St to get my train it hit me - that anchor that's pulled me back again and again for nearly 30 years has suddenly gone. It's like a tether in my life has just suddenly slipped away. It's the strangest feeling.
Weird how so many of us are all feeling the sense of loss, also comforting that your not the only utter nut job.

i have all day mate keep watching the ceremony

it’s like the day after a funeral

and i wasn’t there
Said the same to Macavennie, how many times have you been there over the years, that's what yesterday was about mate. Generations of blues over scores of years. Cherish it that you were lucky enough to ever go there, some people never did.

Just to say, as a lifelong Southampton fan, what an absolute privilege it was to be at the game yesterday. The noise from the singing before the game was as good as anything I’ve ever heard on my travels to football grounds all over the country.

I’ve had a soft spot for Everton since the halcyon days of the early 80’s.

Great fans, fantastic city, wonderful people you scousers and fantastic new stadium. All the best to you all in the future.

Cheers Saint, good luck

I reckon there was well more without tickets than with. I walked up from the black horse about 11am and the flow of people was 20 to one walking away from the ground than up to the ground. Took about 15 minutes just getting up Spellow Lane coz we were going against the tide.
I went into the ground about 30mins before kick off and thousands outside, but inside goodison was pretty full

What a day. What a day. My lad and I sailed across the Irish Sea in glorious sunshine, docked in Liverpool at 09:30 and headed the the Old Lady. Such scenes. The reek of the flares, the singing, the hypnotized Saints fans, the Toffee who hugged me simply because I offered to take a picture of him, his daughter, and his wife at their Bullens Road turnstile, The years fell away to 1973 when the 15 year old me visited Goodison for the first time. Day trip from the IoM with 3 mates. Such excitement. Then 2025 came back into focus… siren, Z Cars, Blue Thunder. Ndiaye’s left foot. All for one and one for all. Final whistle. Celebration. Great names on the pitch, heroes of yore, a Toffee Lady. A Blue infused blur of happiness. But before those waves of joy rolled in…that violin…oh that violin. 39,201 hushed…the notes hung in the air like Dixie…a thrilling lament…a final parting…What a day. What a day.

I enjoyed seeing and listening to the bagpipe player in the Lower Gwladys yesterday, who passed right by me in the closing stages of the match. Although it would be nice to see things like that more often, I think it is best to reserve such niceties for celebrations (much like yesterday's match).

Thanks for your post Allsaint——It was the singing before the start of the game that I felt the most emotional more than any other part of the day——it was like we were one big massive soul holding us all together, a wonderful feeling.

Superb!

Another story from Sunday.
Ive sat next to the same bloke for about 10 years. He brings one of his lads every week alternating between his two boys. Ive watched them grow up and they are now about 14 and 17. They were both in the seats on Sunday and i asked where Dad was. They told me they needed three tickets and dad had been trying all week. They came, all together , them thinking it was all sorted. He used his phone to get access for his two lads and they went through the turnstiles. Then he stepped away. He stayed outside. He had not really got the third.

And that's the difference between us and that lot

I never come on the forums but needed to come on and check I wasn’t the only one really struggling today.

Feel a massive sense of loss. I’m devastated about it.

Tears yday in the ground and a couple of times today I’ve had a little cry. I’m 41 for Christ sake and got a lot more in life to stress about than not going to Goodison.

Just a huge part of my life going there, doesn’t feel real that yday was the last one.

Nothing will ever be the same 😞 hopefully I start to feel a bit more excited about the new ground but at the moment it feels like my Everton has gone…… Gonna set myself off again here 😂😂
