First and last games at Goodison

First game, April 1963. Everton 1 Spurs 0.
Alex Young, we went top of the table with that, and of course became champions.
I moved to Canada in 1979. Came back to see Everton against Spurs on August 13th 2016. 1 -1 draw. Took my son for obviously his first game. Full circle time. Unfortunately I can't brainwash him to become an Evertonian no matter how i try. He's not really interested in sports. Oh well.

My first game was as a kid, November 1996, Monday night against Coventry. We had just signed Nick Barmby. I met Dave Hickson outside the players entrance and got his autograph. I saw Big Dunc arrive he towered over me. I remember the players warming up, I couldn’t believe how green the grass was and the power and control some of the players like Gary Speed and Andrei Kanchelskis had. I sat in the lower Gwladys street, behind the goal, watching Neville Southall fly through the air. We took the lead through a Graham Stuart Penalty, but Gary McAllister equalised mid way through the 2nd half.

My last game was this season against Ipswich, couple of pints in the Winslow before the game, then front row of the top balcony, confetti and a party atmosphere, we took a 2-0 lead but were pegged back again and it ended 2-2.

For the final game against Southampton I couldn’t get a tickets, but I was there for the bus welcome and the build up, then watched it in The Abbey, the atmosphere was amazing and something I won’t forget.

First v Norwich November 83 and last v Ipswich 2 weeks ago

1st Everton v Burnley 4/4/75 , Mr and Mrs Darwin lived up our road and had season tickets ( they were Irish , can’t remember how they ended up in Wavertree ) Mr D couldn’t go so Mrs D took me , 1-1 Latchford scored. First game going regularly was the Glenn Keeley derby 6/11/82 , a mate from work got me a ticket. There’s been a lot of “ leaving Goodison where you went with your Dad, Grandad etc” not me , I went with the same lad and his dad and mates for a couple of seasons then started going with the same people I go with now. Last game will be on Sunday after having a season ticket since the Mark Ward derby 18/9/93 , I got a ticket for that game on general sale and went to the box office the next week and got it for the rest of the season.
I went those games.
Baldy fellafor Burnley equalised and stuck to fingers up.

First game was against Sheffield Utd in Aug 1993. We won 4-2 and Tony Cottee scored a hattrick. The place was magical to me even back then even though I'd be surprised if there was 20k there that day!

My last was yesterday. However there's more to come with the woman yet so here's to many more days at the old lady!
